Good stuff here as one of the key components to the Scientology mind control is well - controlling the open flow of accurate information

From this morning's St Petersburg Times:

http://blogs.tampabay.com/breakingnews/2009/05/wikipedia-bans-scientology-from-site.html

Wikipedia bans Scientology from editing Scientology entries

Wikipedia has banned people using the Church of Scientology’s computers from changing Wikipedia articles about Scientology and its critics.

The site's administrators imposed the ban after concluding that church members have been altering articles related to Scientology to promote their own interests.

It is believed to be the first time that Wikipedia has banned such a large group. Scientology spokesman Tommy Davis said the church is preparing a statement in response.

Wikipedia is billed as “the free encyclopedia that anyone can edit.” Many Wikipedia entries are in a constant state of flux as they are edited and re-edited, and the site's many volunteers and administrators attempt to keep an eye out for bias.

After a lengthy internal review, Wikipedia’s “Arbitration Committee” of experienced volunteer editors voted to block changes from all IP addresses owned or operated by the Church of Scientology and its associates.

“Up to a dozen long-time Wikipedians concluded that not much good has come from this range of computers,” said Wikipedia spokesman Jay Walsh.

The committee’s discussions are in an online posting on Wikipedia. In that posting, the site’s administrators say they have noticed a trend of what they called “edit wars” – repeated additions and deletions – to entries regarding Scientology.

Wikipedia has blocked IP addresses for certain congressional offices and even, temporarily, the Department of Justice, when Wikipedia's volunteer editors said found abuses coming from IP addresses affiliated with those offices.

Seems that COS members - using COS computers - were resorting to one of the COS time-honored strategies.

That is, they would identify anyone who makes public disparaging remarks about COS. And then they would create a Wikipedia page on THAT person. And fill it full of negative and disparaging slurs and innuendo.

Actually i just misspelled his name....

By the way. im sure Barman has posted this in politics but just in case you missed it.....

A new White House policy on permissible lobbying on economic recovery and stimulus project has taken a decidedly anti-First Amendment turn. It’s a classic illustration of Big Government trying to control every aspect of a particular activity and in the process running up against civil liberty.

Check out this passage from a post on the White House blog by Norm Eisen, Special Counsel to the President on Ethics and Government Reform (emphasis added):

First, we will expand the restriction on oral communications to cover all persons, not just federally registered lobbyists. For the first time, we will reach contacts not only by registered lobbyists but also by unregistered ones, as well as anyone else exerting influence on the process. We concluded this was necessary under the unique circumstances of the stimulus program.

Speak out against these imperialists at ur own risks......They want to prosecute govt lawyers who tried to save lives yet the chief lawyer for the WH has no problem openly condeming anyone wanting to express 1st amendment rights......

Off topic, and out of context. Nice post!

Scientology is a crock. How anyone could believe that stuff is crazy.

We now return you to our sane and fact based story of the man in the sky, followed by the talking donkey, the virgin birth and the 600 year old drunk who built a boat and saved all the animals.
haha wow. That is funny.

-----------

Scientology gives me the creeps like nothing else though.

Tom Cruise has quit scientology!

I never thought this would happen, but it has to be a major blow to the COS.

Tom Cruise Quits Scientology and Joins Hare Krishna

LOS ANGELES (FMLiveWire) -- Tom Cruise has dropped all legal action against the new book exposing his strange lifestyle and has quit Scientology in order to join the Hare Krishna movement.

The popular actor's decision comes after his reading of the new book "Tom Cruise: An Unauthorised Biography" by Andrew Morton.

"Wow, I never realized I was so weird," admitted Cruise, 45, at a news conference where he revealed he was severing his ties with Scientology. "Everything in that book is true. Those nutso cultish Scientologists had total control of my brain, but that's all over now.

"Scientology is a bizarre cult created by a science fiction writer. Now, Katie and I will join Hare Krishna to fulfill our spiritual needs."

The actor indicated he was devoting his millions of dollars to Hare Krishna and will build a replica of the Taj Mahal made entirely of chocolate. He reportedly got the idea after watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - a film he narrowly missed playing in as he was too short for the role of oompa-loompa.

Tom Cruise was the Scientologist second in command, and now Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are reported to be ready to take Cruise's place in the Scientology hierarchy.

Scientologists believe that alien lifeforms called Thetans inhabit human bodies and can only be eliminated with the use of an "e-meter."

As a Hare Krishna devotee, Cruise will follow the Hindu practice of Bhakti Yoga, and follow a line of gurus descending from Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who appeared in Bengal.

Hare Krishna practitioners live according to a strict regimen resembling Scientology. Initiates take vows to abstain from all forms of recreational drugs and intoxicants, and they refuse to eat meat, fish and eggs. They also refuse to gamble, and only conduct sexual relations for purposes of procreation within marriage.
