For starters ....

Get a team back to Winnipeg and bring one to Hamilton. Then fold 4-5 teams that we really dont need. As said above ... 1/2 the league is made up of 3rd and 4th line players.

Hold it right there buddy. Believe me when I say that a team in Hamilton would not fly. The Leaf Nation spreads too deep into the boundaries of Ontario to the point where most Sens fans are still really Leafs fans at heart. Sure it would make for a nasty rivalry with my buds but no thanks...everyone in Hamilton loves the Leafs and that would never change.

I say out in the maritimes if anything or maybe but Winnipeg is a must.

Toronto can support 2 teams. If the sale of Pittsburgh did go through, I would have loved the idea of bringing them to Hamilton. :suomi: A chance to see those kids play a couple times a year, would be nice.

Its said Toronto is not a hockey town, but a Leafs Town is true, but if you asked any Leaf Fan if they would object to having the Penguins play out of Hamilton, 95% would LOVE THE IDEA!

As for Ottawa, they are all Leaf fans in the end. :lolBIG: I've been to 2 Playoff games in Ottawa when they played the Leafs, and if I didnt know better, I could swear I was in Toronto. 95% Leaf Fans at the arena.

So sad to be a Senators fan when the Leaf Nation rolls into town.:103631605

The NHL is never going to fold a team. Being a fan is nice but this is business. Imagine Bettman saying hey Florida Panthers owner thanks for pumping in 100's of millions of dollars into a hockey team but we decided to shut down your team. The union isn't going to sign off on it either because of the loss of jobs.

Hamilton....please they may fill the 20 year old building but there isn't the corporate money behind it to make a team profitable unless Tim Horton's buys every skybox in Copps Coliseum.

What defines success in the NHL eyes is what Americans think cause let's face it Canadians are always going to support hockey so having teams in Winnipeg and Hamilton however great there fan base may be (great in Winnipeg, Hamilton well not so great) isn't what the league wants cause it just makes the NHL look minor league in the eyes of the US sports fan.

That's the problem with hockey these days. Some American know it alls are calling all the shots. Fact is, at the end of the day ..

1. It's not about the game
2. Not about the fans
3. Not whats best for the league

We have the owners to blame for the majority of the problems. They got greedy and wanted the expantion money and were sold a bunch of BS from GARY about how great it would be to have more teams. :nopityA:

Fact is, the sooner we start to realize and stop bending over for the americans, maybe this game can get back to the way it was.

Give me 24 teams, and I show you nothing but the best hockey in the world. :103631605

Either way, I was at the ACC on Tuesday and I have to admit being an instrumental starter of the McCabe booing (I was hammered but conscious of what I was doing) and the Raycroft booing. It was deadline day and I had had enough. Also sick of all the fans who left during the second period or early third.

I still make sure to go down to Montreal with the guys about twice a year for a Leafs-Habs game and there is nothing better in the world. Crescent street after the game, crazy atmosphere at the Bell Centre and always a great game. Can't wait for the March 17 weekend where they are retiring Patrick Roy's #33 before the game, it's St. Patty's Day weekend and US Spring breakers are coming to Montreal since they only have to be 18 to drink there.

When I lived in Montreal, I went to 20-25 games a year. Those standing room only tickets at the old Forum were AWSOME! Not to mention the Hot Dogs. Best I've ever had at any pro game.! :103631605

Those old guys will drive 5 hours straight from the House of Commons in Ottawa to see that game, to watch Sheile do some "stick handling".

I think the NHL should only be in Canada.....if the Detroit , NewYork, Boston and other teams want to play in the NHL.....their states should have to beg to join Canada and disavow George Bush.:puppy:

Get rid of points altogether. An OT/SH win/loss is a damn win/loss.

Shootouts are exciting but there are WAY too many of them with the current points system.
