Yes, it is possible they are that shrewd and playing a long-game.

Only the OP knows the answer to that.

Got this finalized today.

I countered on the weekly figure to $2250 and we settled on $2115. I feel very good about it, no more commission stress and a small raise.

Thanks for all the advice

I think you should wait till 3am tonight and give your boss a surprise call when he's in a deep sleep. Tell him you will stop calling him during the weekends and holidays if he gives you that raise

Hahahahahahahaha

What a douchebag. Probably forgot it was Saturday when he posted that lie - I've heard all the days run together when you're unemployed.

I think my employer prefers the straight salary plan. I honestly believe they think they saving money in the long run. Win win in this case.

Oh wow that would be nice but I don't get that luxury. A lot of hours in my industry. I was pleasantly surprised to even have Monday off honestly.

So you had to ask for advise on how negotiate a 100000.00 salary job you've had but have never asked us to help you with your 401 k setup. That's strange.

A business grad that went to a top 10 business school in the country asking people on a gambling board business advice.

Why don't you ask one of your 4 friends who has 2 million bucks stuffed under their mattress what they would do if they were you?

Says the the guy that faked betting slips to the forum, then lied repeatedly over and over again, then bowed out like a pssy....

Your bonuses are not "eaten up by taxes." You will pay no more or less taxes because it's a "bonus" rather than salary.

Haha. 4th of July weekend. Someone just PMd and reminded me.

JC: Hey boss I know it's Saturday and 4th of July weekend but after getting some advice from a gambling forum I need to discuss my salary.

Boss: Yea buddy how much you need?

JC: Well since my bonus money gets taxed to shit and the fact my wife is 14 months pregnant I think I will go with the higher base salary so my money won't get hit with that special Obama bonus extra special tax.
OMG, that shit was funny.

The company I work for is expanding and in turn my role is growing as well.

Last year my base was 65k and I make another 40k in bonuses for just over $100,000 for the year. It was a very strong year for us and my bonus is tied to overall company success. Obviously there is no guarantee of that going forward but at the same time I have potential to make even higher bonuses if our expansion goes well.

However, my employer offered me an alternative, more simplified pay plan in my new role. They offered to ditch the bonuses completely and pay me a flat $2,000 a week salary.

On the one hand, this is tempting because it's guaranteed and because my semi annual bonus is annihilated by taxes. But on the other hand, I'm afraid I could be costing myself money down the road if we continue to grow and I would have stuck with the bonuses. However, even if that happens and I took the $2,000 a week, couldn't I just ask for another raise at some point in the future?

Which would you take?

Any advice appreciated, trolling will be ignored. Thanks in advance.

So how did it all turn out? Happy with your decision?
