Actually when you think about it we said all the 2 thousands wrong so far.

For example in 1978 we called it just that, nineteen seventy eight, not one thousand nine hundred seventy eight. You break it down the middle and say it, not saying it like an actual number.

Like in 2006 we should have called it twenty oh six not two thousand six or using the above example saying it wrong would have been one thousand nine hundered seventy eight, that would be wrong.

So with that said we should be calling this twenty ten and we should have called 2006 twenty oh six, etc...

Yes, before "two thousand" I don't think it was EVER said in that way. Even going back to 1901. It wasn't "one thousand nine hundred one", it was "nineteen oh one". Name any date in the past millenium and it was "nineteen or eighteen or seventeen, etc.". What comes after nineteen? Not two thousand.

It's going to take some retraining to break the bad habits of the last 10 years but eventually we'll get to twenty...

Just think of all the time it will save just saying "twenty" instead of "two thousand".

I agree, just wondering how the year 2000 should have been pronounced.

2000 was a reasonable exception to the rule. Time to get back on track for the rest of our lifetimes. If we make it to 3000 then we can debate how to say that. :grandmais
