That's pretty ridiculous, even the top of the line signature series that Chefs like Ramsay and Keller put their name on (and get significantly marked up because of it) cost around $1100 for a full 12 piece set.
If you are talking strictly home cookware, sounds like she got pretty ripped off. Tough to say though without knowing what specifically she bought.
I just had a look through their site. They are garbage. Anything with plastic handles like that is NOT professional home cookware. There are a number of companies like this I have heard of people being taken by, the reason is because of their selling method. They don't list any prices, they insist on hosting a "dinner party" where it will be nearly impossible to say no to their ridiculous prices because someone came and took the time to do a full presentation.
My girlfriend went to a similar party only it was soaps and creams and shit like that. After the presentation they took each girl in a separate room and basically pressure-sold them and asked how many of each product they wanted. The soaps were seriously like $40 per bar.
Invest in some ALL stainless cookware that can handle being transferred from a high BTU gas burner to a 400F oven without any warping or melting.

I've already put the full court press on returning that crap....she is almost on the verge of tears....she doesn't want to return it cause her co-workers all bought it and blah blah.
