OT, Rant About AD

I had the privilege of watching Adrian Peterson play at OU. I'd never seen anyone that could run like him.....except for Hershel Walker, who I still consider to be the best running back ever. I saw Hershel run as well. I'm about to turn 55, and in my youth, if I was out of line, my father didn't use a switch to get my attention, hell, it was a two-by-four or a nasty piece of leather. That discipline made me the man I am today. For the NFL to suspend AD for doing the same thing to his child is just plain stupid. Our society has gotten so soft, why the hell do you think the problems with kids that exist today do? Soft. I walked onto an SEC team, weighing a buck-seventy-five, and took more licks than any little guy should have his entire life. But I could do it because of DISCIPLINE. I am so angry with the NoFunLeague right now, for penalizing a parent that was doing what he thought was best for his child. I'm sorry for this post if anyone is offended, just had to speak out. GLTA, I wish everyone the best always.

The kid was 4, a little young to be beaten that badly. Oh, give me Earl Campbell any day over Walker.

I haven't seen any pics TF, but if it let blood, then I have a problem, if not, I think he felt the same way I do, if you don't discipline your kids early, you'll lose them quick. JMHO

There is a fine line you cross I guess, you and I come from the same gen or we wouldn't have stated "what's the big" deal. I never had my ass whooped at that age because I hadn't yet figured out the things to deserve said ass-whoopin. BUT, until I reached the age of 7, my father never gave me the gavel. After, all bets off, run for cover, LOL.

Thanks, but imo, that's nothing compared to what I took, but not at four. As a four year old, no, my father would have never done that, so maybe I'm outta line here, my apologies to the members of the RX. But in general, if kids were more disciplined, I think a lot of this country's problems might be softened. jmho GLTA always!

I'm 48, so I believe we probably think alike in many ways. I also agree about disciplining the kids once their older, but a 4-yr old is too young to be disciplined like that just as you stated.

I also agree that the lack of discipline by today's parents is a huge problem.

Violence is never the answer. Assaulting someone won't make things better or right. Even if some kids act like they deserve it. At any age.
And physical punishment won't deter kids. I used to get lashes with a belt. But I still did things i was told not to. I just got better at not getting caught.
