Both are kind of old fashioned. I don't think either is terribly offensive. Who started the NAACP, it wasn't some Honky ?
Actually the only reference I have to Honky comes from the George Jefferson TV character. I'd bust out laughing if a black guy called me Honky !
I never heard a black person refer to themselves as colored, and rarely Afro-American, usually black is the term used. I don't like to see young blacks call each other...******. That ain't cool !
I'm not racist at all, but that Honky thing from All in the Family always cracked me up, it just wouldn't insult me.
The colored thing is darker ( no pun intended), it was sort of OK in the 70's, but traces to earlier times with water fountains and such labeled colored only.
