Time to get a new one. Not looking anything too fancy. Not too bulky. Easy to use. Quick and good quality.

Any recommendations?

Get an old HP laser like a 2100 on ebay or craigs list for around $35 some come with a toner cartridge in them. Or buy a new cart off ebay you can print over 2000 pages and might have to buy a new cartridge in Dec of 2009 if you use it a lot. I been doing this for years and it is by far the cheapest route. This printers cost $1000 plus when they where new and most work for ever.

printers are pretty much throw aways now adays,

that is to say that cartriges cost more than the printers themselves. You can pick up cheap lazer printers for about $50, and when it comes time to replace the cartridge, you are better off selling your machine without cartrige for about $10 or $15 and just buying a new printer again for about $50 instead of buying a new cartridge.

its fucked up, but that is the way it is.

Of course if you need functionality like color, faxing, scanning, etc then you will be looking at more than $50.... but it really depends what u need

As others have said-you can't go wrong with HP.

That's the only way to go when it comes to printers.
