If I delete all the songs/cd's off my hard drive will that erase the IPOD library and thus my IPOD? tia

deleting from your HD does not automatically delete them from your library in iTunes....you wouldn't be able to play them from iTunes but they would keep the names intact and in turn keep the iPod okay as well.

then again...I wouldn't take that as a concrete answer...just a very well educated response based on my personal experience.

it doesn't delete the library....but you never know with computers and shiv these days.

but i'm 99% that you will be fine because i use an external drive and when it's not hooked up, the library is still there, i just can't play songs through iTunes, and hooking up the iPod does not effect anything.
