I know this isn't the right place for this post but I'm asking the mods to leave this post here. I have a good friend who turned 58 a few months ago and had never really gone for regular checkups. He told me he had some rectal bleeding for a few months and I told him to go to the doctor, but he kept putting it off. A few months ago I started to notice small amounts of blood myself and convinced myself that it was probably nothing. After some urging from my wife and my friends wife they were able to convince us both to go in and get checked. We made the appointment for the same day and we went in yesterday and had our colonoscopy. I was very relieved to find out that I had some diverticulitis which probably was the source of my bleeding but everything else looked ok. The test is painless and I got all worked up for nothing. The worst part was the prep the night before. I was not even sedated. Unfortunately I just found out a few minutes ago that my friend was not as lucky. He has what appears to be a very large cancerous tumor and must immediately be admited for surgery. I am devistated by this news that I just recieved. Please guys if your 50 or over go get checked out.
