Listen, what's that I hear in the back ground "BAD BOYS, BAD BOYS, WHATSHA GONNA DO WHEN THEY COME FO YOU". Well our side have a few tricks up our sleeves (pepper spray, stun guns, and tazers) which are all better alternatives than the old hickory stick up side the head.

If I've heard it once, I've heard it a thousand times, "ya, I'd had a few cocktails, and was just standing outside the club, when I got into a little push and shove thing, next thing I know the cops are there and for no reason at all they (insert abuse here), blah, blah,blah..."

i'm sure you have heard that a million times but, the cops really did do that to me, after bar close one night i was waiting in line to get some pizza, two guys that were in line right next to me started to fight, i had absolutely no idea who they were so i was just standing there watching all of a sudden the cops come and without warning they just start pepper spraying the two fighters and me, i was choking my ass off and my eyes were just burnin so i started bitchin at the cop telling them i wasn't involved, five minutes later i'm cuffed in the back of the squad car still recovering from the pepper spray, and i never did get my fuckin pizza

Sure Earl. www.taser.com

Much better than owning a gun, especially if you have kiddies in the house.

Hey NothinButNet, there certainly are officers who over re-act in some situations, and it sounds like you were unfortunate to run into a couple of them. But most of the time these altercations between the police and the people they deal with are precipitated by the "arrestee", not the "arrester".

I've often heard people say (when they've sobered up) "damn, they didn't have to pepper spray me, I was co-operating". Well, these aren't Marquis of Queensberry rules we use out there. It's the doctrine of escalating force, you resist, we pepper spray, you pull a knife, we pull a gun, you pull a gun, bye, bye.....

Cops are people, too. Good ones and bad ones out there just like any type of profession.

HOWEVER, I would wager that if you took a random sample from the police forces around the nation, that the sample would return a far higher percentage of 'good' guys than if you took a random sample from the entire population or from say, stock brokers or politicians or such....

Having a tazer for my wife might be a good idea....hmmmmm. Better than a gun is certain (for many situations.) I'll bet tazers are pricey, though..... I'll have to go check them out.

I pissed on an electric fence one time....

It was a 'sheep' fence and not the normal electric fence.

So...Yes. I've been tazered.

It knocked me out for about 3 seconds.

Dares are a bitch.

Tulsa, dude you are hilarious! I am glad that you are ok...and that you were still able to have children.

Hope to see you at the Bash!

Bill the cop,

Under generally accepted policing guidelines, are there any situations where it is acceptable to taser someone when they are handcuffed?

Generally no, but then again if someone was kicking me in the nuts or biting my throat, it's tazer city (cuffed or not)!

Bill have you ever heard of an officer droping his tazer and it going off and striking someone?

I ask because a bouncer I know said he saw it happen and it hit his partner in front of him. I wasn't sure if to believe him or not but he really has no reason to make it up.

Sorry, bullshit story. You have to have your finger on the trigger for the voltage to work. Even if the tazer darts were in you, it would be ineffective unless pressure was applied to voltage regulator (trigger mechanism). Too many cervezas for that eye witness:>)

Thats horseshit. If a cop can't figure out a better way to restrain an already hancuffed person and has to Tazer him he should get a new job. Maybe security guard for some crack dealing ho pimp.

If some thing was biting my neck i'd not only taze it,
i'd follow it up with a stake through its heart. Unless
it's initials were NK. Then she could follow that up
by giving me a licking for two hours.

WOW! That's great advice! I'll pass it on to the boys in blue, "Buzzsaw says, the next time you happen to be trying to arrest some 6'4'', 250lb, 22 year old, high on meth, who is kicking, spitting, and trying to headbutt you, just take a step back and try to appeal to his more rational side".

This will be my last response to this issue as I find it harder and harder to respond to the type of drivel posted by people who really have no clue of the class of "citizens" police officers deal with on a day to day basis.

Apparently Dale Davis of the Detroit Pistons can be added to the list. I just heard on the news he was mis-behaving in Miami last night and needed a timeout.

Pistons' Davis arrested, shocked with stun gunAssociated Press

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- Detroit Pistons center Dale Davis was shocked with a stun gun and charged with assault and disorderly conduct in an altercation with Miami Beach police.

Davis was arrested Tuesday at a Miami Beach hotel and accused of threatening police and security guards and shouting profanities, police said.

Chubby Wells, Davis' agent, said he plans to file a lawsuit against police for their treatment of the 15-year NBA veteran.

"It was so ridiculous, it's unbelievable," Wells said. "We're going to take a stand."

Police were called to the hotel by the security workers and Davis was repeatedly asked to leave, but refused, according to the report.

After giving officers his identification, Davis and the officers went outside, where the 6-foot-11 player accused the officers of targeting him because he is black. Police said they asked Davis to remove his hands from his pockets for officer safety, and Davis complied after asking officers if they were going to shoot him.

Davis pulled out money, three cellular phones and credit cards. He put the items back in his pockets and said he'd beat up the officers if they took off their badges and got rid of their guns.

Davis then balled his fists and began walking toward officers in an aggressive manner, and he was warned that he would be hit with a Taser gun if he continued.

He didn't stop, and an officer used the stun gun to hit Davis in the chest and he fell to the ground. He was taken into custody and charged with assault, assault on a police officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest without violence.

Davis played for Indiana, Portland and Golden State before joining the Pistons as a reserve last season. A Detroit spokesmen didn't return phone messages seeking comment Friday.

Fantastic. What is it about Miami that brings out the best in NBA players?
Maybe if Davis had offered some of that money and one of them cell phones (especially if it had cool ringtones, cops love that) to the coppers, they would have gone away.
