I recently lost my job and my wife is finishing grad school. We are presently in Dallas, but have no reason to remain here if an opportunity presents itself. I own a couple gas stations that are pretty much worth less than the operating cost and they are about to go under, so we are considering all options. I don't have any technical skills having worked in sales, but I met with a recruiter and was talking to me about something in Europe. We are wide open to relocating, just wanted to get some feedback as to people's experiences overseas.

My wife and I are born and raised in the states, my only concern is I am of Indian origin and she is black and I know when we have gone to India people openly discrimniate, I was wondering how much of a problem that has been in some of the place where some of you have lived. Any advice or things to consider before deciding to move abroad.

Thanks,

If you lived in Dallas and havent had any problems anywhere else in the world will be a cakewalk. Good luck on your move and enjoy the new experiences. I think you will have a great time of it.

Europe is a lot more liberal than the states, so I don't think you have to really sweat that out. It's a beautiful continent and I'm sure you'll like wherever you're going, but start getting used to betting on soccer because that is their nfl.

Soccer is one of my favorite sports to bet on. I grew up playing soccer.
The wife on the other hand likes going to NBA games. (yes, i thought about asking her to get a CT Scan done).

Zurich would be the location as possibility. I love the idea of moving somewhere not knowing anyone and having to explore a new culture, make new friends and learning new things.

i was gonna say, i realize dallas is not small town texas, but I have seen some hidden camera pieces on TV.

"What would you do" with John Keniattes (sp?) it was 20/20 ot some other news story show.

anyway, it was SHOCKING how these texans reacted when a muslim girl walked into the bakery.

In summarry, if you (as an indian) with your (black) wife can handle Texas, then I think you are pretty much good to go in the rest of the civilized word.

Thanks,

Big, I wanted to get ahold of you last week, but I was away for a few days and just got back.

If I remember, you said you Worked for Cline Davis ?? If so what Field were you in there ?

The reason I ask is because my Neice was Vice Pres. at Cline Davis, and might be able to help you find a new job. That's is if you are looking for that type of job again ?

India is far worse than Texas as far as discrimination goes.

yes it is... but I said the "civlilized world"

:nohead:

seriously, I mean no insult against developping or third world countires, I have lived all over the world and I am a "mutt" or "mixed" person also. Mom white, dad Brown.

For the most part, wherever you go in the world, developping nation or not, you will be fine, as MOST people are civilized.
