OT: Has anyone in TheRx community ever tried to start a charity?

I have a great cause, and a great idea on how to raise funds for the cause.

I just have no idea where I should start.

Has anyone ever tried this before? If so, what are some things I should make sure to avoid? Must things I should do?

This is no scam or no GOFUND ME account trying to boost my bankroll.

Im looking to start a legit charity that helps kids. And no, I will not be asking any members of the TheRx community for donations.

Just looking for advice.

I would be interested to hear this as well. I have been wanting to start a charity as well. I actually called a friend yesterday about it, because he runs a charity that I have helped with. He is supposed to call me back tomorrow so I can update this thread if/when I do talk to him.

Good question. Im not happy in my current line of work, so Im looking to eventually run this if it becomes big enough for a full time job.

Obviously, it's a nonprofit deal, so Im not going to get rich off of it. If I can do something full time, help the lives of others, and give myself a modest income to do it, thats what I would like to do.

Yes. I started a charity called "children win charities"
I closed it down with my accountant a year or so ago. It became real difficult and as mentioned I found it easier just to go and volunteer and cut hair for the girls and boys....

I donate to a few charities on a regular basis but I would not even know where to begin to start one.
