"If I was your Woman" from 1974. It might be one of the greatest R&B recordings ever. I hadn't heard it in a while, and I hear that bass start out and Knight sings subdued and under wraps in the first verse, then she starts letting it rip in the second verse, and by the time the song was over I was thinking it was one of the greatest things I've ever heard, and it was so moving and beautiful that I had to listen to it three straight times. I think it was the Funk Brothers backing her up, and the instumentation was simply awesome. Did this song grab any of you like it did me? Name some other amazing Motown and r&B tunes from the '60s and '70s that blew minds, if you'd like.
