Dante - I would go for it. HP has good customer support. It should come with some sort of warranty.

I just talk to a freind of mine about this she does this Friday shopping thing every year and gets the black friday ads on the web from most retailers.

She is going to go buy this lap top today, then what she will do is go on black Friday during the time these are the $398 price and go to the return desk and say she wants the sale price.

If they dont give her the price she then would tell them she dont want it and get her orginal price back

However she told me she has done this in the past and they always have given her the sale price.

So for you gamblers here just a ideal to consider:toast:

Laptops are da bomb. Just save up, buy a nice one, and you'll end up using your desktop as a clothesrack. My girlfriend just bought me a top shelf kickass Sony Vaio desktop last week, and I've barley touched it. I like the laptop I've had for 3 years(which she also bought me, lol-she's pretty cool) so much that I don't want to use anything else.

If it does have a celeron processer, don't even think about it.

I find the crowds unbearable, so I don't venture out on black Friday, but this is great advice. The worst you can do is get a complete refund.

If you purchase the laptop early, how can you be sure you are buying the correct model?

I thought I heard last year that some places give you these prices if you order online(ahead of time in some cases), have you looked into this at all?

here is one being sold on ebay, I'm sure the specs are comparable to the one WalMart is selling- the bare minimum, but not bad for 398 bucks. I guess, to test out a laptop, $398 isn't bad. Just keep in mind you are getting one of the cheapest and least powerful out there. For web browsing it'll probably be fine, though.
