A friend of a my family was approached to see if she would be interested in selling her story. Crazy stalker story.

Anyone ever written anything or sold a story? She has no agent, has no-one that she would trust in this situation, I told her the good peeps at the Rx may be able to send her in the right direction.

I took two years between high school and college and while working days at TCBY I wrote a fantasy novel (think a poor man's Tolkien). I never showed it to anyone but my mother though. . .

I was 18, imagine how good it was.

The protagonist was an alcoholic.

no book, but did write some shit in the local paper about this guy i shot in the ass for jacking off on my girlfriends window. he was known as the "midtown peeping tom". this guy tried to rob her garage a week earlier and the cops let him go. after he got out of the hospital, some lady recorded him whacking off outside her window and he was caught days later. got out on bond and hasnt been seen since. wasnt enough info for a book, but i got a few paragraphs in the local paper.

88% of books that are published do not make money for the author.

I knew there was little chance of getting an answer here, but you never know.

Fish, you think she is better off selling it outright? or getting royalties if that is possible?

If someone is actually interested in publishing her book they will offer her payment in advance. If they are not offering payment then more than likely they want her to foot the costs of publishing, etc and then stand back and see if it sells....
I have 2 friends who did this. The 1st wrote an article in a student newspaper..publishing company calls and says he has potential bring them something to look at. He sends them a novel he was working on, they love it and for only $4000 can get this thing printed and on Amazon....He does, they did and 3 years later he sold maybe 30 copies, has 400 more piled up in his garage and is out over 6K.
Lady i knew wrote a childrens story in a church newsletter. Same thing, company calls, she pays and now has books piled up in her living room.

Point is if they think your book will make money they dont need a dime from you and in fact will pay you in advance.....any other way and your just a schmuck with a dream..

Thanks PPP, my cousin said that she has been contacted about a possible movie deal also. She is a good friend of my cousin, and he wanted to know if anybody ever had any kind of book/movie dealings.

A couple of newspaper clippings about her story.

"Her terrifying story, which revealed a serious need to bolster Ohio's stalking law, was the inspiration for Senate Bill 244, legislation approved by the Senate this past week that would help expand protections for victims of this terrible crime."

"On Nov. 19, the Senate voted unanimously to approve Senate Bill 244, legislation sponsored by State Sen. Tom Sawyer (D-Akron), which would give judges the discretion to use electronic monitoring devices to ensure a protection order is not violated. In Cameron's case, police were unable to take legal action against Ryan, because they had no evidence that he had violated the court's order. SB 244 now moves to the Ohio House for further consideration."
