Journeyman said:I worked for UPS right out of high school when I was in college, worked from like 12-4 am, loading trucks....most people started that way back then...It was not a fun job...
When I first left college to play soccer I got a job a Fed Ex as a driver (about 30 hours a week, it was a prety nice job for the time.
DHL has made a big move in the US market over the past 3 years, they were a small time player in the US but were by far the largest worldwide...I was an loss prevention investigator for DHL for about 2 years.
JohnnyMac said:I worked at a large UPS hub right after I graduated school. I was a Teamster! Pretty good job, part-time with health benefits. I worked sunrise shift, from 3 am to 7 am. I sorted packages, which was a good upper body workout. Also, I knew every zip code in the country, which comes in handy just about never. "Peak Season," as the holiday rush is called, is a real meat grinder: long shifts, with the hub working 24 hours a day, good for overtime. Met some good people there, too.
JustWin said:Currently, I work at UPS as a Full-Time Supervisor on the Preload Shift (3am-9am). In charge of 50 employees that unload and sort packages. I started five years ago as a loader making $8.50 an hour. I've been promoted three times since the start, most recently this year. I have unloaded, sorted, loaded as an hourly employee(type of part-time employment Fish is discussing). The health/medical benefits are unparaleled by any other part-time employer.
Peak season is a bitch, 24 hours a day, around the clock package movement. I average 17 hours a day, six days a week as a management person, so it keeps you busy for sure.
Fish, what facility are you interested in working at? I have contacts across most of the country, I can make sure you get hired on most likely without any trouble. If you have any questions, hit me up.

Delivery driver, package handler, accounting, etc., etc.???
If so, relay your experiences.
Thanks,

Fishhead said:Possibly, have nothing better to do with my sparetime, so may want to do something constructive, get a little exercise, and pick-up a few bucks all at the sametime.
Have a huge FEDEX 1/3 of a mile from my home taking applications for package handlers........only 10 hours a week.
