I was on MSU today, thought they could control T.O.P and take Oregon out of their rhythm. This is the best Oregon team I have seen yet. I would like to see what the duck fans think. I think this is the most talented team skill wise I have seen from them but bigger than that I think is the improvement in the trenches on both sides of the ball. They gave up some points but I was very impressed with the play of the defense once they got settled in. They have recruited very well and have some nice depth. Now they need to get Nike to build them another stadium... 54,000 is just to small.

They have been so close I think they get it this year.

That's big of you 1osubucks.

The question was answered about what do you do when MSU rattles off 24 straight points to take the lead at the half.
It's fairly simple if you are Marcus Mariota with all that talent and speed to support you when your offense is on the
field. You get the ball to start the 3rd quarter and answer with 28 straight points yourself. I also liked how Don Pellum's
defense stuffed the run and got after Conner Cook with a vengeance. I noticed a different attitude on the faces of the
players and coaches when they emerged from the locker room to start the 3rd quarter. It was all business. I remember
seeing the same expression when they went to LA to play the Trojans several years ago. It was all about business then
and the outcome was the same.

I think Helfrich put it best when he was asked by a beatwriter what people's expectations were of the Ducks this year.
He replied stating that the players and staff and many of their fans didn't just expect the Ducks to make the playoffs.
They expect the Ducks to win it all.

Think Autzen holds 59,000.......I thought our best team was last year, but its early...If Mariota didn't get hurt I believe the outcome against Stanford would have been different..to many 3 and outs which left defense on field to long...I liked what I saw and came away thinking "why not us "

Stanford and USC in a possible title game. Both will be tall tasks. Stanford has shown to have learned to defend the Oregon attack. The 3-4 is just the right defense to defend the zone spread. I don't buy the Mariota injury excuse, either. By Novemeber everybody has injuries. It's part of the game. The rest of the Pac 12 looks a lot like the Big Ten. Maybe ASU is an exception.

And I don't think Oregon would consistently sell out a larger stadium. And that's ok. It gets plenty loud and it is the age of television.

Duck fan here. Not our best team, but if Mariota stays healthy the Ducks will be very hard to beat, he's just that good and makes all the difference in the world.

The Ducks were well on their way to making the big dance when their starting QB Joey Harrington, also a Heisman front runner at the time was injured. The difference between a team with a healthy Harrington and the injured version was like night and day... the same situation held true last year. How can anyone just dismiss loss of a Heisman leading starting QB and say it doesn't make any difference? No matter who you put in there the team will suffer for it... possibly not a death sentence but we are talking about a NC caliber team here that lost the best QB in the game, not just another also-ran.

...and as far as the SEC goes, hasn't anyone noticed a narrowing talent gap around the country between the SEC and everyone else? Who really believes that such important factors will just go unnoticed by football programs with an ever increasing war chest and funding to upgrade all the facilities and the quality of the coaching staffs with better money going around? Football is ever evolving and sometimes it takes getting whupped by someone's success again and again to force change. It's always been that way and it's no different today than it's been in the past.

Its bad football for some reason when USC-Stanford played a 13-10 game but this type of game was glorified in the SEC

Loss? Are we talking about 2001 or 2013? You're the Pac 12 guy, but I cant recall Mariota missing any games in 2013.

That was Dennis Dixon right, with the ACL. He actually played in the Prime Time game against Zona and went 65 yards for the TD and then on the next series it buckled and their season was done. Harrington was on the team that was robbed when the pollsters put Nebraska (off a 64-35 loss to Colorado and who didnt play in the B12 championship game) in the NCG against Miami. Oregon went on to destroy Colorado in the Fiesta if I remember

He didn't miss any games but was playing on one leg...He didn't run the ball one time against Stanford

Mariota has a case of Stanforditis...........Until Mariota and the team overcome that there will always be a little doubt in some minds which is a fair criticism no matter if he has 2 legs or 1 leg..........

So 2010 & 2011 blowout wins over Stanford don't count ?

They created the 4 Team Playoff so Oregon won't feel left out again..........They did beat Sparty so that's a start I guess even though they were playing at Home and Sparty lost players on defense from last year.........Florida State was the team to end the SEC long national title streak.......In the end it took another team from the Southeast....
