Hacktivist group Anonymous has reported that more than 5,500 Twitter accounts belonging to Islamic State have been taken down. It comes after the collective declared a “total war” on the militant group following the Paris attacks.

“Our capability to take down ISIS is a direct result of our collective's sophisticated hackers, data miners, and spies that we have all around the world. We have people very, very close to ISIS on the ground, which makes gathering intel about ISIS and related activities very easy for us,” Alex Poucher, a spokesman for Anonymous, told RT.

He added that the collective has built tools that “might be better than any world government's tools to combat ISIS online.”
Aware that ISIS has its own hackers, Poucher expressed confidence that the militant group “does not have hackers like we have hackers.”
“They picked a fight with Anonymous when they attacked Paris, and now they should expect us,” he said, adding that the collective “will not sit by and watch these terror attacks unfold around the world.”

Anonymous released a video on Monday stating that the collective would “launch the biggest operation ever” against Islamic State (formerly ISIS/ISIL), following the Friday attacks in Paris that left 129 people dead and 352 injured.

Anonymous takes some stupid left-wing positions (like supporting the whole BL movement), but good job by them for engaging in this.

Taking down Twitter accounts is nice. I'm hoping to see them get involved in far more damaging e-warfare...like hacking their bank accounts or posting secret ISIS info (where their leaders are, war plans, etc).

In short, good start. Now let's get even dirtier.

ISIS uses Sony's Playstation network to communicate knowing governments doesn't monitor it.

These poor, uneducated downtrodden terrorists (liberal narrative) are anything but stupid.

Can they hack into some of these people's bank accounts and drain them? We need to stop ISIS from moving so much money around and bankrolling these attacks.

I don't see why not......this hacking group seems to be able to do anything. A smart bomb thru the pc would be nice.

I would think so, although the question then becomes where the money moves to. Even if they did hack and transfer money, who would be the recipients? Would be kind of awesome to see it transferred to some kind of 9-11 surviving family member fund or something similar, now that I think about it.

Then again, I'm pretty sure bank hacking is a felony in the States. But what jury in this country would ever convict them if the said Anon member went to trial?

You got that right but knowing Obama he’d probably declare them enemy combatants and send them to Gitmo without a trial.

Dave, after the next attack, does the shit hit the fan and people start calling for Obama's throat? Or does the nation continue to remain comatose like it's been for the last 7 years?

I would like to think the military would remove him from office since Congress seems incapable of doing so, however reality tells me it would be comatose city.

We’ve fallen down and can’t get up.

I actually read something that terrorists and even spies are using world of warcraft to communicate. Everyone goes to a location in the game and then they use secret code words.

I would still say most of the terrorists are cave dwelling idiots (if they weren't there would be a lot more violence in the 1st world) but as the capacity for using technology for evil increases then so does the threat obviously.

Fuck just taking down the accounts. Trace them. Turn them over to the FBI and Interpol. Good job Anonymous, Snowden types, et al, but if you can do more, do more.

[h=1]Anonymous Accuses San Francisco Startup of Protecting Security of ISIS-Related Websites[/h]Anonymous has repeatedly called out a San Francisco startup for allegedly protecting the security of ISIS-related websites.
The hacker collective has been warning CloudFlare, an Internet security firm, to stop providing its security filter to websites deemed to be affiliated with ISIS activity.
CloudFlare CEO Matthew Prince told Business Insider the threats aren't to be taken seriously, especially from a collective that employs the company.
"I'd suggest this was armchair analysis by kids — it's hard to take seriously," he said. "Anonymous uses us for some of its sites, despite pressure from some quarters for us to take Anonymous sites offline."

I don't know if 'protecting' is the right word...but the CEO never denies it. Upon finding out that they are hosting ISIS sites, each one of them should be taken down immediately.
