I made a prediction a week ago of Oklahoma winning the game against BYU by 24 points, but I really thought they might have a line of -17. I'd sure like to see that line drop some more before game time.

These lines are from either the Golden Nugget, The Las Vegas Hilton, or both.

Here is who I have wagered on so far:

Illinois -2 1/2. vs Missouri. Revenge time.

Floirda St. pk at B.C. If Bowden can't beat these guys, he should retire on the spot.

Oregon +3 at UCLA. Obviously some people believe Phil Steele's rag. I don't.

North Carolina +3 vs Florida St. UNC at home on a Thursday Night, plus points.

North Carolina +2 1/2 vs Miami. Way too much respect for Miami. Christmas comes early.

Leans: So far, these are just leans.

Ga. Tech +4 at Miami.
Georgia -2 1/2 a Arkansas.
Michigan St. +4 1/2 at Wisconsin.
Ga. Tech +4 1/2 at Florida State.
Nebraska pk at Missouri.
Clemson +4 1/2 at Miami.
South Florida +3 vs Miami.

They could be as early as the middle of July, or as late as the middle of August. The earlier they release them, the longer they can hold on to your money before having to pay out the winners.

that Illinois Mizzou line has to move over the next 2 months. Illinois will be a huge public play I think and probably the right play. Take Illinois now and watch the line move and try for a middle.

That is certainly a possibility, as are all of my futures play. I always look for bad opening lines.

The ACC lines in particular seem to be out of whack; are these all correct? They ranked (I think, dont quote me) second in strength of schedule last season and these lines look at first glance like they are getting no respect.

If OU is plus money against UT, I'll have to take out loans for the amount I'll be putting on that game.

Texas is -3 because OU has no offensive line. The line is a good one. OU is 1-3 in their last 4 games vs Texas. As far as the ACC is concerned, they sent 10 teams to bowl games, which accounts for an allegedly strong schedule. That is not accurate. Three things are driving the odds in ACC games. First, the fact that only 4 ACC teams won their bowl games. Second, and more important, a huge bias for the home teams in the ACC. There are 96 conference games in the ACC, and last year the visitors won 17. The Big 12 had 20 victories in 94 away conference games. The SEC had 23 away wins in conference play, out of 95 games played. So you see teams like Boston College, picked by most to finish 5th or 6th in the Atlantic, at even money against Florida State, who is the favorite to win the Atlantic, just because the game is in Chestnut Hill. The exception to the rule seems to be North Carolina, who is unexplainably underdogs to both Miami and to Flroida State, at home.

there are 48 conference games in ACC, not 96
but they still have less road wins than b12 or sec conf games, so your point is well taken

My error. I forgot to divide by 2. Sorry. By the way, the line on the Illinois-Mizzou game is now up to 5.

well that makes my decision a lot easier since that was one of the games that i was considering playing, unless some big news comes out of fall camp...i'm now officially "off" that game

good luck

Start looking for your mortgages, because unless one of those teams is upset, that line probably will not change. There are a few games each year that the books simply will not changre lines on, unless something drastic happens, because there is so much action going dow on each team, they do not have to change the lines. They will get a ton of people "buying the hook" on this game, both ways.
