Dear loyal RX forum readers and Rio/Skybook customers:

First of all, we would like to thank all of you for your many words of support and your loyalty during times when unscrupulous people attempt to discredit us. We can't thank you enough for the emails thanking us for the free contests, free half points, fast payouts, etc. etc.

The purpose of this announcement is to defend the plethora of inaccurate statements made by an individual who is obviously reeling into a downward spiral--that person being the pathetic Russ Hawkins from MajorWager.com.

It is widely known that of all the dregs in the offshore industry, that he is the lowest, along with Charlie from Aces Gold, Peter Linz of the Dunes, and many other deadbeats and scam artists. Russ Hawkins has backed many books that he knows were going under, and even started his own sportsbook that STIFFED all of its customers at the end. We could go on all day, but enough about this sorry individual.

The bottom line here is that Rio/Skybook/IIS was one of his top advertisers two years ago. We paid him a lot of money to be on his site. However, due to the fact that his site is so small, and so nominal in terms of credibility, so poor in terms of return on investment, the company decided to pull its advertising, along with a multitude of other advertisers. When advertisers pull their ads from this broke individual, he attempts to extort them to bring them back. In other words, he makes you think that if you don't re-up with him, that he will badmouth you and ruin your company. We at Rio/Skybook were intimidated at first, but knew that this individual had to be stopped in his denial of service types of attacks that extort sportsbooks.

The only difference between now and two years ago is the fact that we stopped advertising there. Let this be a WARNING and a heads up to all prospective advertisers. When you realize that his site elicits no customers and you decide to terminate advertising, he will go after you in the same way the russian hackers who extorted the books with their denial of service attacks.

A couple of weeks following our pulling of the advertising he started myriad malicious rumors designed to undermine Rio/Skybook. Those rumours include the fact Rio was going under in a couple of months, slow pays to customers, and astronomical debts owed to individuals in the business.

All of these attempts to discredit Rio/Skybook have obviously been futile. Rio/Skybook continues to grow and strive to improve. Skybook was recently mentioned widely in a New York Times article. The viability of Rio/Skybook has never been better as illustrated by the fact you will not find one customer who will ever say he has been slow paid, by the fact that we have been with Don Best Premium for 6 years, USATODAY.COM for 3 years, (USATODAY obviously would not collaborate with a sportsbook who doesn't pay), and by the fact that Rio pays out thousands and thousands of dollars in free sports contests every year without blinking an eye.

As far as Rio/Skybook owing money? C'mon. Do you think fellow respected books like Cris, Hollywood, Grande, Olympic, Jazz, etc. etc. would continue to do large transfers with us? We all know the answer to that.

All we ask of you readers is that in the future that you do your own due dilligence in terms of deciding if his rumors or any rumors posted in the forum are true. Call Joey C. yourself, call Larry, find out for yourself if these rumors are true instead of choosing to believe a mudslinging, desperate individual on his last legs over a premier sportsbook that has always vowed to be generous, ethical, and diligent.

Thank you very much for your time, and thanks again for all of your support during all of these years.

Sincerely,

Management
Rio International Group Ltd.

Great post.

I hope that all posters & sportsbooks realize that there is no class with this individual. He will resort to the lowest of lows to retaliate against people/posters/sportsbooks who he may have a problem with and that includes the sharing of personal information about anyone.

People like this need to be dealt with and be held accountable for their actions.

IM glad to see rio responding to this bullshit.

rio has been one of, if not the BIGGEST, contest sponsor for our readers here at the rx.

they gave away well over $20,000 on a baseball contest alone this year.

NOT ONE PERSON HAS HAD ANY PROBLEMS GETTING PAID.

GREAT POST RIO/SKYBOOK! I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY THAT I HAVE BEEN WITH YOU GUYS FOR OVER 3 YEARS AND HAVE BEEN PAID LIKE A SLOT MACHINE. I HIT A FREE PARLAY FOR 7K AND GOT PAID IN MINUTES. WITH THE FREE HALF POINT, AND ALL OF THE FREE CONTESTS, YOU GUYS ARE BY FAR THE MOST GENEROUS OF ALL OF MY OUTS. MY FATHER ALWAYS TOLD ME TO LET ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS. LOWLIFE BOTTOM FEEDER RUSS IS JUST A LOT OF MEAN, NEGATIVE WORDS. RIO/SKYBOOK HAS BEEN ALL CLASS!

That post should be sent to every sportsbook that avertises there. This way they know what to expect when their contract runs out and they choose not to renew.

I can't believe that there are people out there that would try to smear the excellent reputation of the RIO team. I have personally been playing with the RIO books for a number of years and have never had a problem.

I think the managment is top notch. They have been here for a long time, and I am willing to bet that they will continue to be here for a lot longer. Can other sportsbooks say that?

All these people can say what they want, but I am going to continue using the RIO group as my primary sportsbetting outlet, and I think everyone else who is betting with them will agree with me.

Rio, C’mon. I think you are way overboard on many things in your letter here. It’s obvious the Major was successful in getting to you.

1)“However, due to the fact that his site is so small,” It’s actually one of the largest.

2) “When advertisers pull their ads from this broke individual,” I doubt very seriously that the Major is broke.

3) “Let this be a WARNING and a heads up to all prospective advertisers. When you realize that his site elicits no customers and you decide to terminate advertising, he will go after you in the same way the russian hackers who extorted the books with their denial of service attacks.” The Major’s site certainly does bring in customers. How many is any ones guess…

4) “As far as Rio/Skybook owing money? C'mon. Do you think fellow respected books like Cris, Hollywood, Grande, Olympic, Jazz, etc. etc. would continue to do large transfers with us? We all know the answer to that.”

This is very true. And this is really the ONLY comment you needed to make, RIO, to disprove the Majors allegation regarding your financial situation.

ONE VERY ANNOYING thing about the Major is that he is given to make VERY wild accusation against not only BOOKS but people as well, with not the slightest thought of providing any supporting evidence. So far, this looks to be another example.

One last think Rio. You stated that “Russ Hawkins has backed many books that he knows were going under, and even started his own sportsbook that STIFFED all of its customers at the end.”

RIO, just what book did the Major own? Please provide us the NAME of this book. If you just wrote this to discredit the Major, then IMO, you are no better than he is.

Rio, sometimes it’s best to write something, get it all off your chest, then come back an hour or so later...take a deep breath and re-read what you wrote. Just my thoughts

#2 is a great point. With all that stolen SecureBuxx & MajorBetting I doubt even Mike Tyson could find himself in bankruptcy this soon

Lander, LOL.

Here is why I think the Major HATES RIO:

1) The Major probably did take some offense to RIO not renewing their advertising…for two years
icon_razz.gif

2) RIO letting Sick Gambler off the hook, so to speak. It’s obvious to me the Major hates Sick G. more than the smell of vomit.

3) The fact that RIO advertises with the SHRINK – probably on the Major’s ‘5 most hated list’.

suetanous you are basically correct and seem like one of the few objective people around here. Your points are good, but being subjective because someone is hurting your pocketbook is about as low as it gets. I know for a fact that the shrink says nice things all the time about advertisers who have left him like Cris, jazz, etc. and when was the last time russ threw a 20k party for anyone. Shrink, you are all right!

I don't believe for one minute that these accusations against Rio are true. We and many other books have done big money transfers with Rio, and never had any problems at all. If we at BHB thought something was wrong with Rio, we would be damaging our reputation right now by sticking up for them. Once again these accustions are false and it seems to me that there might be a hidden agenda here.

Pete, the agenda is Major being Major. he don't get his way, so he resorts to lies and digging ways to harm people.
