I have not done very well in tournys at FT, 1 win in about 10 tries (no cashes either besides the win). I don't know why either, maybe too little of a sample size. I was doing very well in the tournys at wsex and bodog before that

Ok guys here's what happened:

Final table, me and another guy left. He has 90K in chips and I have about 28K. I screwed up a hand where I had JTo and flopped trip jacks. I checked them on the flop as did he. Bet about 2/3 the pot on the turn he called, and then I raised, he reraised, and I called. He caught a his straight card on the River.

I built my way back up to around 40K and he had about 85K or so. My computer has been turning off at random times lately, and I think I should get it looked at. Next hand, computer just completely turns off on me, and I reboot and luckily was able to return to the table with about 25 K left. Played a hand and flopped top pair 10's, with no flush or straight possibilities. I raise all-in, and he callls. He has pocket J's and i lost. Pretty fun and exciting for being a freeroll.

I took 2nd place out of 90 people total. I'm pretty happy with my play, but made a few mistakes which cost me some money in different hands. Learning alot. Pace is pretty fast, and hard to stay afloat cause you get such a short time to act.

It got to heads up play, and I haven't read Harrington's Volume 2 book yet, so i was unfamiliar with how to play heads up and with a low stack. Off to Amazon or the bookstore to get it now haha.

:puppy:

All 3 of harringtons books are pretty good, if you were in the mood to wait I could sell you 2 and 3 at a cheap price since ive read them now about twice each.

ECS, I would do that. I'm going to go re-read a few parts of Harrington's 1st book now, to try and correct some of the mistakes I made.

Is playing in that Free Roll SNG a good glimpse of what I can expect in an actual SNG? I imagine more ppl were going all in this previous free roll.

Also, is it better to play SNG's, or sit down at regular cash tables?

Thanks.

Free rolls are just that, insanity that usually makes no sense because their is no money on the line.

I personally play cash games, although through my poker life I have done it all. I started off playing strictly NL tournys, I was actually afraid of the cash games. Then I started doing some SNG's as well. Then I started playing some limit cash games and now basically all I do is cash games with an occasional NL tourny here and their.

Let me make sure I have the third edition, I just got done rereading the 2nd on the plane to vegas, so I know I have that. Personally, my favorite of the 3 is the 2nd version. Talks much more about making plays, ect.....

Final Question:

Anyone who plays at Full Tilt, is there any way to play with the bonus money, or do you just play with the money you deposited or what?

The bonus clears 20 dollars at a time. After you clear the 20 dollars it goes into your account and can be used to play.
