Was online playing blackjack for fun this time and cant believe how the cards fall for the house. Ive lost my ass numerous times before playing for real and have all my casinos blocked except one account which I dont put money in. Come on football!!!!
Um. Even if it wasn't rigged, the standard deviation in blackjack is large
and if your sample size is small your results could be meaningless.
For example, even if you are playing perfect basic strategy, the
standard deviation is still 1.14. Say, you play one hand every 30
seconds for 120 minutes, at $20 per hand. That's 240 hands.
The SD for the session is sqrt(240) * 1.14 = 17.66.
Multiply that by the ave bet size = 17.66 * $20 = $353.20 and
that is one SD from the mean. Now if you factor in the expected loss
because of the house edge:
$20 * 240 * .0045 = $21.60
So, one SD from the mean is a loss of ($353.20 + $21.60) to
a gain of ($353.20 - $21.60):
- $374.80 -> $331.60
You have a 68.3% chance of falling w/in 1 SD of the mean,
you have 95.4% chance of falling w/in 2 SD of the mean,
you have 99.7% chance of falling w/in 3 SD of the mean.
So in the session above, even in a totally legit game you have a 5%
chance of losing up to (2 * 374.80) = ~$750.00
And, more likely a 68.3% chance of falling in the 1 SD range
- $374.80 -> +$331.60
And if you were to play 100 sessions like the above, you'd likely
hit a 3 SD session with losses up to $1000.00.
