EDMONTON/Winnipeg over 51½
The Eskies are coming off a sub-par regular season by their standards and you know for sure that this edition of the Eskimos is going to come out firing on all cylinders. Missing the playoffs or fighting for the playoffs is not an option for them this season and that’s because they’re loaded with offensive talent. Ricky Ray and his extremely talented receivers take a back-seat to nobody in this league. They Eskies also have a ton of talent and experience on the O-line to open holes and to protect the QB. This Edmonton team should have very little trouble scoring points and anything under 35 tonight would be a surprise. To keep pace the Blue Bombers will have to score too and that means putting the ball in the air for former Louisville Cardinal standout Stefan Lefors. Lefors does have some limited CFL experience but new coach Mike Kelly will not be tentative with him. He wants to see if Lefors has “it” and the best time to find out is in game action early in the year. There’s no denying he has talent and could light up the scoreboard. A lot has been made about the retirement of Milt Stegall and all I have to say about that is good riddance. This guy was more of a distraction than anything else because there was always pressure to get him the ball so that he could break records. The Bombers will be much better off without him and they, too, are talented in the receiving department. The Bombers defense has lots of question marks but it says here they’ll score plenty too this season starting right here and combined these two should sail over this low number rather easily. Play: Winnipeg/Edmonton over 51½ (Risking 2.14 units to win 2).
