Wow, I know the Stamps are a strong team but damn, this is a lot of points to be spotting an Als team that is also strong. Also consider that the Stamps are traditionally a slow starting team, they’re coming off a Grey Cup championship and they have several nagging injuries to key players. In fact, over the last three years in July, the Stamps are just 3-8 against the number and the Als are a team that is used to being a 6 or 7-point favorite and not a 6 or 7-point dog. Calgary has also made a lot of changes on defense and they’re not nearly as experienced as the group that played last season. You would have to go back a long way to find the last time this Alouette team was being spotted this many points. The Als are healthy and one has to believe they’ll be very jacked up to avenge that Grey Cup loss last November. They still have one of the best QB’s in the business and he has several big play receivers to go to. This line opened at -3½ and the “sharpies” or public or both hammered it right away and has pushed this line a lot higher than it should be. Not only can the Als cover this but they can win outright and I can guarantee you each and every player is very aware of this point-spread and they’ll use it as a motivational tool as well. Play: Montreal +7½ (Risking 2.02 units to win 2).
