Is that we are in for a rough four years. I have the feeling no matter who takes over at this time, 4 years from now the incumbent will be done.
McCain has a better grip on reality. I know I will catch shit for this statement, but he has been there, done that. For that same reason I do not like some of his steadfast "This is the way it is" mentality. On foreign affairs, I agree. On taxing I agree. On healthcare, he is a mess.
Obama is living in a dreamland. He is the epitome of not practicing what he is preaching. He is being a chameleon right now, changing spots with the wind. I know, I am in sales, I do it every day with my clients. He is the more invigorating of the two, probably a better motivator and at least has some fresh ideas, although I feel most of them are tragically flawed.
I will not sway from my Republican party vote once again. Even with all the jesting that goes on in here I have tried to keep an open mind with Obama and see what is the big rage, but I can tell you right now, he is a wolf in sheeps clothing. The one area I agree with him is his aggressive stance against Wall Street and Oil companies, but that is a very easy target at this time and the happenings over the last few weeks with the stock market, and the last year or so with gas prices. To me, this is his easy way out to fire up the hoards of americans that are feeling the crunch. The media is doing all they can to incite fear of losing their homes, food, cars..hell, I even started to get worried the other day about my home and my mortgage is only about 8% of our family income.
I am not starting this thread to get into a debate or a copy and paste war with my lib 'friends' (although Im sure the next post will be some kind of copy and paste or debate), but the lesser of two evils is McCain.
I come from humble beginnings just like Obama stated, a poor attempt to appeal to the masses. I worked hard in school, played sports, did not paricipate in band, drama or anything gay like that. I am a Division I National Champion, have earned an undergrad and a Masters in Business. I am intelligent enough and qualified enough to make my own decisions, fight my own battles, and have worked my ass off my entire life to get where I am now, which is very comfortable. I also played a professional sport for 5 years.
No matter how you slice it, this idea of "fairness" in Obama politics is one of two things.
1. He is a socialist. I beleive this to be the truth as his stance on healthcare tonight solidified that opinion for me.
2. He is just doing this to get votes. Not so much, as his platform has had to change. He knows he cant heavily preach tax cuts and reperations at the same time, it just does not feasibly make sense. In fairness, McCains attempt at it as well is ludicrous and will not work. A 5k tax cut for health care is a joke because once again, what about the people that dont pay taxes. If it is in the form of a credit, I then ask, what is Medicaid for?
McCain will make the hard decisions, Obama the popular ones. I do not require help from the government, but then again, I sacrificed a lot of time, parties, fun etc. throughout my life. I feel the people that did not do the same and are asking for handouts are weak, and should not be coddled. Make them work for their money. How is not up to me. That is why we elect officials.
I do not think either candidate has our best interests in mind, no matter what they say during the debates. Obama is a career politician, who places more value on being the first negro president than whether or not he is qualified to lead our country. McCain is slow and steady, but I think too engrained in the lost ideals of past presidencies. Todays problems are new and need fresh eyes to see them. Obama is too much of a wild card for me....
Decision- John McCain.
