J,
In their defense 1/2 of these rules are so fvking retarded to the point where they defy logic. NFL need to cut the BS with the lawyer-esque rule book.

Couldn't agree more- I've been saying this for years...too many rules that hurt the game instead of help...although this is not a new rule...unfortunate to reward the team that just had the ball blocked...I don't know if you can write a rule to be anymore air in that scenario though.

very bad beat. I had Cheifs 1h +6.5 and Chiefs for the game. I feel like I got robbed. I would just like to get a miracle win once in my life. Oh yeah I had over 8 runs in a baseball game when Robin Ventura hit a walk off Grand Slam with the score tied 3-3, but he was only credited with a singlwe after being tackled by his teammates rounding first. Final score was 4-3. Please just once in my lifetime. Whatever I'm a cursed mother fckin loser. My lust for life is gone!:bunnies:

I don't agree that it's a dumb rule and I don't believe it should be changed. If anything, it ensures that all punts are treated the same. What if the defending team partially blocks the punt or it grazes a defender's hand? You may not know that if you're on the receiving team and there can't be two sets of rules.

exactly.

BLITZ the point was players DO NOT KNOW THE RULES...and that is just unacceptable in my opinion.

Apparently the refs dont either. 2 of them were signaling first down KC.

IMHO whether or not the punt is blocked if the punting team recovers it on a spot on the field that did not get them past their yardage needed for a first down then it should not be a first down UNLESS there was a change in possession i.e. the receiving team had possession of the football and then fumbled. The kicking team should be trated as having gotten the ball to the spot where they recovered and went down. If that nets them a first down, then great; if that doesn't, then they didn't get the requisite yardage for a first down. Merely touching the ball doesn't amount to a change of possession in my mind. The receiving team never took over possession. I understand this means that a 4th and 1 is very different than a 4th and 20. Yeah, and it should be.

However I do agree with you gusy that refs called it correctly and the players ought to know the rules. Regardless, I think this is a bad rule. Along with countless others.
