Since JR just hit his 500th HR, it brought to mind a unique item I have that may interest JR himself.
While living in Las Vegas, some friends and myself always made an annual trip to Phoenix for spring training.
This one particualr year in the late 80's, we made sure we were going to see the Mariners play because of this phenom, Ken Griffey JR. who had made headlines before ever playing in a major league game.
Well, we just happened to catch the game that was acutally the Mariners very first game of spring training that year, and thus all of the guys with me all made a point that we were seeing JR in his actual very first game in a major league uniform!
So I took it upon myself to say that if he hits a home run, I will take a picture of him the moment his foot hits homeplate and thus I will have a photo of JR completing his first HR ever in a major league uniform.
Well, needless to say, he hit that homerun and I took the picture that I still have to this today.
Going to make some copies of it and present one to JR when ever I get a chance to meet him next.
