I actually went to 2 games of that series (the joys of a transient youth). Hated hAXtall then but didn't dispute his skill.

Had a nice run of profitable seasons going into last years fiasco.

Can't wait.

what a fucking series that was, David against Goliath....

when the Oilers were up 3-1 going back to edmonton, they purposly had the catering department wheel cartons of champagne by the Flyers Dressing room....

was a heroic effort by the FLyers who were basically playing the "Dream Team of Hockey"

lets go through that team:

Gretzky
Messier
Fuhr
Kurri

who else?

This is a common urban legend in many sports. I had heard this same Legend about the Islanders doing that to the Oilers and the Stars doing that to the Devils in the early 90's. Heard it in the Yankees/Braves series.

My favorite was the one where supposodly someone got ahold of Twins ALCS championship hats and put one on the rally monkey after game 3 (yankees wound up losing the series)

I know. For years the stories were passed around word of mouth - so they took on a little twist and in the pre-internet days, there was no snopes.com to verify.

With that being said - I was lucky enough as a youth to tour Northlands (now called something else up there) while visiting family. There may have been some truth to the flyers seeing the champagne they would never taste. :drink:

The place has been renovated, but in the "old days" the layout was such so that the corridor went

Entrance / Hallway / Visitors / Refs / Home / Media / Catering

Anything that would have to be held in catering would have had to go past both lockers. (funny how I can't remember my new cell number but I remember that trip with such vividness...granted I was too young to enjoy sins like beer and vodka)
