It was talked today on The Fan ( WFAN )

If the Game is going into Overtime, After the Coin Flip. The Team that Wins the Coin Flip and decides to Take the Ball out First.

Should just Start at their Own 20 Yard Line, with No Kick-off.

Reason Being, it makes it an Even Playing Field.

Do you Agree ???

Hell no.....Football is 3 (somewhat) equal phases. Why eliminate one of them?

i voted no although i dont really know why the currant system doesnt seem fair especially after watching the colts game last week.somehow without dragging the game on both teams have to touch the ball.a flip of the coin is a tough way to finish a good hard fought game.

Francesca loved the idea. It does make a lot of sense, but the stats already say that there isn't an advantage to get the ball first right now.

are you sure, I thought there was a huge co-relation between teams who win the coin flip, thus getting the ball first, winning the game.

francesca is full of shit if it isnt an advantage how come no coach has ever said no we dont want the ball first we want to play defense.

i have never seen a team say we dont want the ball first we are going to kick off in overtime and play defense.maybe baltimore might do it.

Off topic but how NCAA has their OT set up causes dehydration and leads to cramps and so forth and the squad is spent leading into next weeks game.

Some friends and or family say NFL should adopt same format and I respond with 16 games all ready have enough injury's.

I feel they should go old school and a tie is a tie.

Of course playoffs go O T and I personally like the above idea.

i say adopt something like NCAA only give each team the ball at the 50. Any NFL kicker can knock down a FG starting at the 35.

As crazy as it sounds I heard somone give the idea of the first team to 4 wins. The more I thought about it the more I like it. The team who gets the kickoff needs to score a touchdown to win. If they kick a fg, the other team who gets the ball knows what they need to do. Crazy sounding but like I said I kinda like it. Would be a helluva lot of strategy involved.

no, overtime is fine just how it is

i happen to think that all the talk and complaining is worthless

1. both teams have 60 minutes to win
2. if it goes into overtime and you lose, well you should use your 60 minutes better next game
3. if you play prevent defense and it takes you to overtime you deserve a chance at losing in ot
4. if you go on def 1st in ot then good you have a chance to stop the other team and get the ball back
5. if you play for a fg to take u into ot and u lose in ot shame on u for playing for a fg
6. if you dont take advantage of the last minute in a half and try and score instead of running a dive or taking a knee

i may be one of the few who would prefer to go on def 1st in ot. i believe you should have confidence in your def and be aggressive. if you can stop the other team within reason you set your team up in grat field position

First time i've heard this, but it sounds interesting. I'd like to hear what someone smart has to say about why it would not work.

They need to do something about the rules preventing a tie. No NFL game should end in a tie. I do feel both teams should at least have a shot to win. Maybe play a 10-15 quarter & the team with the most points in the quarter wins. All TD's would require you going for a 2pt conversion which will probably eliminate most ties from occurring.
