If Bartman was smart, as soon as the Cubs win the WS (eventually?) he would come out of hiding.

Instant celebrity, and would do very well for himself in commercials, appearances, etc.

Hopefully he plays this hand correctly and comes out with the last laugh. He would be set for life.

That would be f awesome. The city and organization owe that dude. I think Theo would do something classy for the guy.

What would be wrong if he came out to throw the first ceremonial first pitch?

If they don't win this year, 90 years from now unisexuals on the Chicago to Mars shuttle will be viewing retro 2 dimensional footage of the origin of the Bartman curse.

Now? He can't do it until they win.

Can you imagine if he threw out first pitch of the NLCS and the Cubs go on to get swept? Opens the wound right back up.

But once the Cubs win all is forgiven by EVERYONE and he could safely resume his life, as a celebrity. Of course, any reasonable fan, myself included, never blamed him to begin with. Alou's fault for inciting, and fuck Alex Gonzalez for booting that DP ball.

Would he be safe to throw the inaugural first pitch for the first game next season after the Cubs win this year?

IF the Cubs won this year, IMO yes, for sure he would be safe.

Something tells me he will remain a recluse though, which is a shame.

Better Ideal would be if The Cubs can get to a deciding game in The World Series and be up by preferably just one run in the 9th for Theo & Joe to trot Bartman out the dugout to Pitch in relief. On absolutely no warmup. At all. To Close out the victory. If The Cubs would do that we'd be able to be Witness to the greatest sports moment ever.

You must be drinking and come to play. I get it.

No way you don't fully know that if someone would let you and I Manage Operations for a Baseball Team, at least be in Charge of Marketing/Promotions/Clenching Game in World Series Relief Pitching Decisions that the whole thing would turn out very well.

Very First thing I'd do, personally, is re-do that blowing up Disco Records deal, see if we could pull that off better, this time. Except I'd Blow Up something other than Disco Records cuz I actually really really like Classical Disco music, from the 70's.

Who doesn't?

alou really threw gas on the fire...science established based on trajectory he would not have caught it..unless its a bonds 700 ball or something along those lines, i never get people going crazy for a souvenir..i mean, its a fucking baseball

for the first time i agree with vit, i know emotions and alcohol were running crazy but the cubs fans acted like a punch of punks

Good points Alou definitely made it worse, a very high percentage(80-90%) of people would have tried to catch the ball thus interfering with the play and there's no guarantee Alou catches the ball anyway. What about all the BS, Cubs blew the game many times, the ground ball through Gonzalez legs at SS was one of the worst through the game.

Alou was featured on ESPN the other night in a seemingly waaaaay too long of a segment considering that the entire subject matter was how 80% of his life, his "Identity" is having been involved in that mashup with Steve Bartman. :):)Alou is made to autograph pictures of the play on a very very frequent basis, forced to answer the same question, about the play, just about constantly. Alou gets barraged with phone calls from guys writing articles about the play or just random guys asking "Hey are you the same guy that was involved in that play?" most of these calls in the middle of the night while he is sleeping cuz he lives in some other time zone than USA.

Alou's life is, apparently, something of a Nightmare and its all Steve Bartman's fault.

The ESPN Report on this featured really sad background music, depressing camera angles, like, shot from below pointing upwards and subdued lighting of course. I only stayed watching it to see how long it would go on and it went on a really really long time.
