I was one of the first 5000 people in America to watch Forrest Gump . Had no idea at the time of watching it that it would be such a legendary flick.

Although shawshank came out at the same time and was superior to fg

I think SR and FG are masterful movies. Two of the best of our generation. None of this superhero bullshit. Two well told pieces of cinema.

Vietnam the country and also the war was somewhat a source of amusement and entertainment for Forrest as "there was always something to do" untill he finally realized the horrors of war watching Bubba die on the riverbank. From that point on Forrest still may have been slow to comprehend some of the issues of the Vietnam Era however he know was his own man proud and steadfast in his on going journey through life.
