One of my all-time favorite songs that has a little to do with gambling is....

RAMBLIN' MAN

by the Alman Borthers...

Lord, I was born a ramblin’ man,
Tryin’ to make a livin’ and doin’ the best I can.
And when it’s time for leavin’,
I hope you’ll understand,
That I was born a ramblin’ man.

Well my father was a gambler down in georgia,
He wound up on the wrong end of a gun.
And I was born in the back seat of a greyhound bus

Rollin’ down highway 41.

Chorus

I’m on my way to new orleans this mornin’,
Leaving out of nashville, tennessee,
They’re always having a good time down on the bayou,
Lord, them delta women think the world of me.

Chorus

[repeat and fade]

Lord, I was born a ramblin’ man...

I don`t know much about the Allman Bros. , maybe I am too young, but a couple days ago I was listening to this song on the radio, it was a damn good song...I thought it was Jimmi Hendrix (who I know little of as well) it turned out to be the Allman Bros, the song had a woman`s name in it...I would like to find that song , anyone know the one I`m talking about?

Journeyman,

Would that be "Melissa" or "Jessica?"

Both of these were by them...

Even though everyone thinks he is a joke, the song by kenny rogers "the gambler" really was not bad.

I don`t think I had ever heard that song before...damn sure made me wanna meet a girl named Melissa. I`m gonna have to find the disc...anyone know the name of the disc?

Do they have a greatest hits cd? If all their stuff is that good, I might need to buy some Allman Bros stuff...

I imagine Ken with a Martini in his hand doing The Hustle to The Beegees "Night Fever" wearing silk pajamas...

Live at the Fillmore East is one of my favorite albums of all times. Duane Allman and Dickey Betts? It just doesn't get any better. My favorite track on the album is You don't love me.
And speaking of "live", if you ever have the opportunity to catch the ABB in concert, run, don't walk!

Whipping Post
by Gregg Allman

Transcribed by Rich Kulawiec

I been run down, I been lied to,
I don't know why I let that mean woman make me a fool.
She took all my money, wrecked my new car.
Now she's with one of my goodtime buddies,
They're drinkin' in some crosstown bar.

Sometimes I feel, sometimes I feel,
Like I been tied to the whipping post,
Tied to the whipping post,
Tied to the whipping post,
Good lord, I feel like I'm dyin'.

My friends tell me, that I've been such a fool,
And I have to stand by and take it baby, all for lovin' you.
Drown myself in sorrow, and I look at what you've down.
But nothin' seems to change, the bad times stay the same,
And I can't run.

Sometimes I feel, sometimes I feel,
Like I been tied to the whipping post
Tied to the whipping post,
Tied to the whipping post,
Good lord, I feel like I'm dyin'.

Sometimes I feel, sometimes I feel,
Like I been tied to the whipping post
Tied to the whipping post,
Tied to the whipping post,
Good lord, I feel like I'm dyin'.

A little tase of Whipping Post
