I love how there is one of these for Boxing and for Women's basketball but I must have missed the one for the mens...

I know there is one on why you should fade this team (retarded) and how Greece is a good bet to win it (double retarded). So I figure why not have one for all of us who actually think they are going to smoke the rest of the world?

This Olympiad will be different fellas, we are running the competition start to finish.

USA wins gold easily IMO, but I think them going 2-6 ATS is very likely. Their lines are just way too inflated.

Best play tomorrow is Croatia -3.5 against the Aussies. I like Lithuania to win also and the USA/China game to go under.

2 extra years to work together. talent is undeniable. chemistry is the only question. 4 years working together in the offseasons should do the trick compared to the rushed together prior olympic teams.

There is not a player on Greece or Spain (the next best teams) that would make team USA. That is how they win easily, especially since they've already felt the embarrassment of coming away from the Olympics without a gold. They know if they don't win this year they will be an international joke.

Euro teams win because 1) they are all terrific shooters and if a team gets hot from 3 and stays hot they are tough to beat and 2) they have great chemistry and play together much more often than the NBA stars do. Still, I don't think it's enough to stop USA's talent.

This I will agree with. USA games usually aren't very good basketball games to watch. I'd personally much rather watch Spain/Greece or Argentina/Croatia. USA is VERY cocky out on the court and make a lot of dumb mistakes trying to put on a highlight show every time they have the ball. They live on the fast break and really aren't that strong in the half court, which could hurt them against the better teams.

Still, they are too talented to be beaten IMO.

what the USA needs is shooters. so they put redd on the team but he will not play ahead of kobe and wade.
these teams are going to play zone and make the USA make shots and they will make them play defense, something these stars don't like to do.

Melo/Lebron/Wade are more complete players now. In addition Williams/Paul are going to play key role in this team. Then you add Howard/Bosh/Boozier who are young/much improved players from 2006. Remember that was essentially a young team. In addition those countries take world championships seriously, where as in usa most of these players couldn't tell you what the hell that is.

Given this, clearly USA is clear/cut favorites to win. I think they blow out most teams except for maybe for Spain/Argentina. Although I hate half the team (Boozier, Kobe, Melo, Williams) I will be cheering for the USA to redeem itself.

I want USA to win and I think they are improved with K coaching and the Kobe addition. However, I gotta fade them with field +300.....They don't win this tourney 75 out of 100 times....They haven't won in 3 years and now they're 3-1 favs (3 years is including the world championships in 03 and 06)

USA is in tough because of travelling, not travel.
They have to revamp to play by the REAL basketball rules.
NBA showtime for 5-10 yrs is hard to break.
