Coming off an 0-1 day yesterday losing with New Jersey. Today starts the series between Minnesota and Sacramento. At the moment, key here might just be the difference in bench depth as the Wolves are significantly thinner without Szczerbiak and starting center Johnson injured his wrist in practice plus the flu bug has hit the team a bit. Give a slight overall edge to the starting unit for the Wolves, but big edge off the bench to Kings with Miller and Peeler versus Olowokandi an Hoiberg. Hence,

1* Sacramento +5.5

Overall Unit Record YTD: (178-146.4)(+31.6) 5*(1-0)(+5.0) 3*(10-6)(+10.2) 1*(143-114-5)(+16.4)
Overall W/L Record YTD: (154-120-5) 56.20%

NBA Regular Season Final Record YTD: (17-12-2)(+5.8)
NBA Playoff Record YTD: (4-6)(-2.6)

Plays are rated 1*-5*

Good Luck All.

Nice call Ted! Any leans tonight? I will be on the Spurs over 176, not crazy about the game just the over. I took Sac in the series, so along the way as it dictates I may hedge. GL CASH

Honestly, I am finding this game quite difficult. I fully expect the Lakers to bring everything they have to offer but given that, believe the Spurs are the superior team both in quickness and defense as well as bench depth. Parker matches up extremely well with Payton. His speed and youth is too much for Payton. Expect Bryant to bring his best game tonight in full attack mode, but Bowen does a great job defending him. Shaq will be countered by Duncan and the Spurs trapping defense. Malone could do some damage but again the team defense that the Spurs play is difficult to consistently score against. Sounds like a lean toward the Spurs, but the problem I am having is the number is just about right and I envision a tight, tight battle and I can't play the Lakers in this spot against the Spurs. I've looked carefully at the total and particularly closely at Game 1 and how I see the game being played out. The first game ended 88-78 with the Lakers relinquishing their third quarter lead and being outscored in the fourth quarter 26-13. I envision a tough, tough defensive struggle here which would tend to make me believe that this game could go under. The problem is that depending on how the game is called, free throw shooting could add to the score even though both teams struggle at the line. So, as you can see, this is a tough call for me, both side and total, thus I'm going to pass tonight. I believe the Spurs are the better team and should win the series. I need to see what the Lakers, particularly Kobe, can do, if anything to penetrate the Spurs defense now that they are in their first "must win" game. I hope these thoughts help you somewhat, but this is a true pass for me.

Ted: Thks for your insight, always appreciated! I agree 100% on the game I think spurs are the better team, but do believe Lakers will bring all they have, thus making the game to tough to call. However I do believe if the Lakers are to have a chance it will need to be in the up-tempo mode to try to convert as many buckets as possible before spurs get in their lock down 1/2 court "D" which is awesome. This could in turn play into the spurs hand, the spurs are very capable of fast breaking as anyone. I honestly believe there will be more easy baskets tonight because I think game will played more of an emphasis on picking up tempo to try and avoid the spurs "d". The variable you hit on that could burn my theory is the Refs who ultimaely controll tempo, if they blow the wishtle alot this could mean trouble for my over, upsetting tempo and bad foul shooting teams, ugh!!! LET THEM PLAY!!!! Thanks Ted and much luck to you. CASH

Ted: It's 1/2 time if the lakers/spurs and one thing for sure, we were both right the Spurs are the superior team no doubt about it. It is up tempo as I thought it may be, but the spurs are the better team, fact! Have a nice night catch ya thurs.
