Been on a recent mini-run going 9-4 (+33.90) so I thought I'd post in the MLB Forum today. Looking at the San Francisco/Atlanta game tonight.
Sanchez is coming off his no hitter in a game where he was literally pitching to remain a major leaguer as the Giants were preparing to either deal him away or send him down to the minors. His performance was extraordinary considering he had never pitched a complete game. He had his father and family come to support him knowing how important his performance in that spot was to his career. His focus was incredible in front of the home crowd, a focus I have never seen in him. He has been getting good instruction from both pitching coach Dave Righetti as well as Randy Johnson. Tonight is another matter however, as he goes on the road where he is 0-7 with a 6.62 ERA with 30 walks in 35.1 innings. He is going up against an Atlanta club that appears to be putting things together as they have climbed into second in the NL Central going 7-3 over the last 10 games.
The Giants meanwhile are a different team on the road. Their starting pitchers, Lincecum, Cain and even Zito all pitched well against the Pirates this past weekend but scoring runs was difficult. They just don't score on the road. Tonight they face Tommy Hanson who after a rough start on 6/7 went 4-0 with a 0.90 ERA over his next 5 starts until yielding four runs and six hits over five innings July 9 at Colorado. On full rest, suspect he will return to his previous form. With a significant hitting advantage to the Braves, believe they continue their upward surge.
5* Atlanta -1.5 (+115) 5Dimes
Year To Date Record: 55-57-1 (+23.45)
Good luck everyone!
