This is a tough game to cap. Obviously the Tigers are looking to sweep and widen the lead on the Sox but I'm not really enamoured with rookie Rick Porcello. He was given 16 days off between starts from 7/5 to 7/16 and still gave up 9 hits, 5 earned runs, 2 HR (15 for the year), 4 strikeouts and 1 walk in 5 innings pitched. Meanwhile Clayton Richards comes off pitching 8 innings, yielding 1 run, 4 hits, striking out 7 with 2 walks on 116 pitches at home against Tampa Bay. The teams he has faced are almost all the weaker teams of the AL. He did pitch earlier in the year against the Tigers lasting only 4.2 innings, yielding 3 runs on 5 hits with 4 strikeouts and 5 walks while throwing 100 pitches. I don't think either of these pitchers will go much more then 5 innings tonight.
It appears I have a chance for a 6-0 sweep today depending on the outcome of the Marlin/Dodger game. I will put the question to the forum. Should I post a play for tonight's Chicago/Detroit game?
