Life is so short it's basically a cruel tease.

We all should be living to be that old & even older.

Of course, not to the point we actually age physically so badly...

ROME, Italy (AFP) — According to the US-based Gerontology Research Group (GRG), the world's oldest human is Jamaican Violet Brown, who was born on March 10, 1900.
Brown became the eldest person alive after the passing of Italian Emma Morano.
Morano, believed to have been the oldest person alive and the last survivor of the 19th century, died Saturday at the age of 117, Italian media reported.
Morano, born on November 29, 1899, died at her home in Verbania, in northern Italy, the report said.
"She had an extraordinary life, and we will always remember her strength to move forward in life," the mayor of Verbania was quoted as saying.
Morano's death means there is no one living known to have been born before 1900.

The title of oldest living person must be cursed. Whomever holds it is always dying.

Not necessarily. My grandma was in a weekly golf league until age 88. Still plays bridge daily, drives, comes to family functions, and she's in her 90s. She is obviously degrading but it didn't start until about age 90.

It's all relative I suppose. Imagine living in the 1200's or something, when life expectancy was like 30.

Whether it's 20 years or 200 years, it's still just a blip on the cosmic timeline. A virtual nanosecond.

those life expectancy #'s are bogus. It all has to do with percentages of children that died at child birth (or first year of life) vs overall population and not how long people actually lived.

It was just an illustration. Even removing infant mortality I'm sure the median was not near what it is today.

Kane Tanaka was the second-oldest person ever recorded.

(CNN)Kane Tanaka, the world's oldest person, has died in Japan aged 119, according to a statement released by the country's Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.
Tanaka, who was born on January 2, 1903, died on April 19, the ministry said.
Guinness World Records said they were saddened to hear of Tanaka's passing, and said the news of her death had been confirmed by senior gerontology consultant Robert Young, who also helped confirm her record as the oldest person alive back in 2019.
