Not sure what rules you dont get, maybe the offsides? or Icing ?
Offside is just like football , don't cross the line early. Except in hockey the line isn't invisible.
Icing is just dumping the puck past the opposing teams goal line from past center ice on your own side. Other than that everything else is self explanatory with penalties and stops in play.

I figured the offsides were like soccer. Icing I really don't understand the point. When they face off, they back off players who touch the other guy first?
