Rapper ODB dies in studio, aged 35

ODB, the rapper best known for his work with the Wu-Tang Clan and as a solo artist for his collaboration with Kelis on the track 'Got Your Money', has died. He was 35.

ODB, whose real name was Russell Jones, had complained of chest pains before collapsing in a Manhattan studio on Saturday.

Paramedics were called but were unable to save him; the cause of death is as yet unknown.

Jones would have celebrated his 36th birthday today.

Renowned for his unorthodox rapping style, Jones had struggled with drug problems during his career and had only been released from prison last year.

He'd recently finished a prison sentence for drug possession and escaping rehab. A post mortem's being carried out but doctors say it could take more than a week to find out what caused his death. ODB leaves 13 children.

that sucks. he was truly one of the greats. he had a very memorable style and said the most whacked out shyt you can think of on his solo albums. he wasnt trying to sound like anyone but himself, and i cant say that for 85% of the guys out right now.

Rob, truly one of the greatest? u can't be serious. mr dirt mcguirt was hardly a great one. in fact he sucked. not only was he a piece of ****, he sucked at rhymin. i heard a lyric the other day that said if you die with your eyes open, ou deserved it. if that's true, that applies to him....

ol dirty was definatly one of the greats you cant tell me there is a single rap artist on the radio right now as good as him. very creative and distinct style. he has enough gold and platinum records that i know i am right. he made people laugh and everytime I heard him I thought he had a very captavating sound. it had to grow on me though. if you like something right away it usually sucks and vice versa
