Not really a big deal. He's saying shit in the video kids listen to/joke about on a daily basis. I wouldn't of cut him.

I work in a school system next door to where this kid went to high school. He brought a gun to school but somehow got probation was all. So all in all he was on thin ice as it was. I dont think I would have recruitd him when I found out he had a gun at school

Interesting remarks from Jerobe's highschool coach...It leads you to believe there was more to this than just a gun possession charge and a rap video.

Last week, his high school coach, Ray Bonner, said he wouldn't rule out advising Jarboe on attending a Football Championship Subdivision school, like Georgia Southern or Savannah State, to keep him out of the spotlight while he works on improving his academics and straightening out his life. Bonner is one of Jarboe's closest mentors and will probably have a large role in helping him land on his feet.

They didn't mind the gun charge, but kicked him off the team for that?

Personally, I think it was probably a lot more than what we have seen or can know. Still, it would be enough for me to know the kid has had a past problem that involves flavors of gang-banging and then he does shit like this video. The question then becomes, do we wait until the kid actually shoots someone or commits some other kind of action that will reflect on the program, or do we cut him loose now after he has showed us he is unwilling to make necessary changes to his lifestyle?

All I know is that as a fan of the Sooner program who has recently gone through the "Bomar Incident," I'm thankful they cut the kid loose.

There must have been a lot more than that to it because if they cut the guy for making a freestyle video that's pretty lame.

This generation is doomed...I hate to see how THEIR kids are going to turn out...If they make it that far.

GS, it's no particular race either. I just took my kids down to Sulphur Oklahoma for a two day camping trip so they could swim in the cold springs before going back to school. I was absolutely appalled at the "white trash" that assembles at places here in Oklahoma anymore. Along that line, I just want to make a very heartfelt public appeal: If you are a woman and weigh more than 150 lbs, please don't wear a bikini in public!!

What did he say in it? Not sure i understand how he was kicked off for making a freestyle, was the coach that mad he recruited a player that sucks at rapping?

Whenever you contrast what this kid did with what Oklahoma is trying to portray here: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=3522559 you start to see the big picture.

The kid almost didn't get a chance to make the team period after bringing a gun to his high school. But, Stoops and the school administration gave him a chance. Then he makes this rap video that was on youtube for a while where he talks about killing people freestyle. That's just stupid and unwanted.

Sooners,

Very true on this young kids part. The problem I have is that he was given a chance after the gun incident and now is kicked off of the team for a "freestyle rap" (if that is what you call it). I am in my late twenties and grew up listening to hip-hop, not the shit people listen to now. I cant stand hardly any of it, but unfortuately its the way of the world now. It just makes me laugh how a kid can bring a gun to school which most kids don't ever do and still be awarded a scholarship, but then has some "freestyle rap" on you tube which a majority of kids listen to now and then become suspended.

Sports has its head up its ass IMO. "Rapping" with your friends about whatever is much more harmless than ever bringing a gun into a school filled with kids and teachers and the future of our country.

I respect Oklahoma for their actions but IMO it should not have come this far.
