Ohio State will join Alabama, Oregon and Florida State in the inaugural College Football Playoff.
The No. 1 Crimson Tide will face the No. 4 Buckeyes in the Allstate Sugar Bowl, and the second-seeded Ducks will face the third-seeded Seminoles in the Rose Bowl presented by Northwestern Mutual, both on New Year's Day.
The 12-member selection committee bumped TCU from the top four in favor of the Buckeyes, who defeated Wisconsin 59-0 in the Big Ten championship game on Saturday.
The Horned Frogs, ranked No. 3 in the previous rankings, dropped to No. 6, behind Florida State, Ohio State and Big 12 rival Baylor.
Alabama and Oregon remained No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. Florida State, which defeatedGeorgia Tech in the ACC championship game on Saturday, moved up one spot to No. 3.
The semifinal winners will meet in the College Football Playoff National Championship Presented By AT&T on Jan. 12.
The College Football Playoff replaced the Bowl Championship Series this season. The BCS matched the top two teams in the country in a national championship game.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

I agree keyman , i think they got it right. Not only the right 4 teams but the right seedings as well.

I had convinced myself that they would manipulate the seedings to put bama/fsu in the sugar , but they didnt.

Great job by the committee.

It's a joke.

The only non-conference team they play that's worth a shit is a 6-6 shitty ACC team (the worst "power 5" conference, by far)...they get BLOWN OUT....AT HOME....and yet they still get in.

If Baylor or TCU had gotten blown out in their loss to a non-conference team I could see it, but they lost to their own conference....which happens.

OhioSt is a "name" team and a big school that travels. Even though they played in the 4th best conference and had easily the worst loss of the 3 teams, they get in.

If you claim it's because OSU won their conf. championship, so did TCU and Baylor. Conference championships are necessary for leagues that dont play everyone every year. But whatever......ESPN got what they wanted.

Yeah, but TCU's best win was KSU at home. Ohio State beat Sparty on the road and Wisky at a neutral site. So it's not only about your losses, it's about your wins. At least with this committee it is. You know as well as I that this "champion of a conference" thingy is pure bullshit when it comes to the Big 12. It's hard to defend a conference that doesn't have a true outright champion. Some day we could mathematically have a 3 way tie in the Big 12. How would that look to the committee? Face it, the way college football is set up now, a ten team conference is a flawed idea and a serious disadvantage to the other Power 5 conferences. It's also outdated. The Pac-10 had a hard time getting a one loss USC team in year after year because they didn't play a championship game. But they were smart enough to see the writing on the wall and expanded. But the Beebe-Bowsby-Boren-Dodds connection never had that kind of foresight.

But if the B10 was the worst of the Power 5, then Ohio St got in by beating a bunch of scrubs. Other than Indiana's lucky win over Mizzou, what other Big10 team had impressive OOC wins? So Ohio St beat
- 1 team at 4-8
- 1 team at 5-7
- 1 team at 2-9
- 1 team at 9-3
- 1 team at 10-3
- 1 team at 10-2
- 1 team at 8-4
- 2 teams at 6-6
- 2 teams at 7-5
Lost to 1 team at 6-6

The problem is the B12 had zero impressive OOC wins. And I am sure you could do the same thing with TCU's schedule and it would look similar.

Although a case could be made for Ohio State, Baylor and TCU I feel the committee did a good job in the initial year of the playoff system. In looking at Ohio State's schedule I'm thinking their dismantling of a solid Michigan State team on the road had to have some bearing oN their decision

Anyways BAYLOR will get a chance to atone for their snubbing when they play Michigan State in a Bowl game

Yours in Winners

*****I believe the powers to be wanted the Ohio State mystique with Coach Urban Meyer to be in this party. Baylor and TCU just don't have the selling power $$$$$$$$$$

TCU beat Minnesota 30-7.

Ohio State beat Minnesota 31-24.

Yeah but the OSU-Minny game was at Minny and was about 10 degrees out.

The TCU-Minny game was at TCU when it was about 80 degrees.

That stuff makes a difference.

The thing is no one has been able to answer my question, what impressive OOC games did the B12 win to make them a top conference? They have the worst OOC resume out of the P5 conferences.
