OU was scheduled to depart at 2:45 p.m. Central time (3:45 EST) on Friday but was delayed because the plane they were supposed to ride in was Late.
United sent a replacement plane for that Late Plane but then that plane broke so United sent another Plane but then a mechanical issue on that plane caused a further delay. United dispatched a 3rd Plane but that plane also broke.
The Sooners finally took off at 11 p.m Central Time (Midnight Eastern), after being stranded at the Airport for 8 hours and 15 minutes.
According to KWTC’s Dean Blevins, it took four planes to eventually get the Sooners off the ground. Eventually, around midnight, the team took off and landed at 12:42 a.m. then pulled in to the hotel somewhere between 1:30 and 2 a.m.
The Sooners are scheduled to play the Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. ET, less than 15 hours after landing in Kansas.
