If you know what USENET/NEWSGROUPS are then that is the way to go, in my humble opinion.

For 19 bucks you can get a block account and download 200 Gigabytes worth of Movies/Music/Software/TV Shows, whatever, it's all there. And your block account won't expire until you've used up your entire 200 GB's. I had an account at one site that has lasted over 2 years. For a couple of bucks extra you can also get an SSH connection.

Downloading things from USENET is much safer than downloading from a Torrent site because you don't have to share with other people so your IP address isn't out there for everyone to see. You see what you want, you download it, that's it.

I just use utorrent with an ip blocker. Not sure how good the blocker is but ive never had any issues. And unlike newsgroups, at least for comcast, its entirely free.

Yeah, IP Blockers like PeerBlock or PeerGuardian don't really hide your IP address. They block known IP's that companies use to monitor downloading of illegal material. They offer some protection but it's still easy enough to record your IP.
