Being a Redskins' fan and not being fond of anything formal (attire, demeanor, etc.) it was John Riggins. Gotta love his White House act.

Long-time Bears fan and watched every game Walter Payton ever played. He would be my choice. Was just amazing what he accomplished early in his career. 'Led' by Bob Avellini, the Bears had no real passing game in the mid-to-late 70's. Yet even though opposing defenses could key on Payton, he still managed to accumulate yardage at a rapid rate. Some of his better runs, bouncing off tacklers, are shown in some of the well-known NFL highlight clips. Payton was also as durable as they come, rarely missing a game due to injury. Incredible leg strength which he attributed to running a steep hill near his home. Was nice that he finally got a Super Bowl ring in '85/'86 with the only damper on it being that he didn't score a TD despite 46 points scored by the Bears. Ditka let Perry run in their last TD and later seemed to regret that he didn't give Payton the opportunity.

Mini-Mac Herron, New England Patriots.

Stood 5 foot 5, set Pats all-time yardage record circa 1975.. Fast as hell, was their tailback behind Sam "Bam" Cunningham as the fullback.

Returned kickoffs, punts, was their leading rusher and could catch balls as well.

Came from the CFL, lasted maybe 3 years. Unfortunately, was found in possession of cocaine about two years after his NFL career was over. Never heard what happened to him since.

Was an inspiration to kids like me who were the smallest kids in class.
