What's wrong with this picture?

Amember of my church gave to me a copy of the Ohio Restoration Project. This project is led by so-called Christians who have a plan for Ohio. The project will target 2,000 pastors throughout the state to become "patriot pastors." These patriot pastors will be briefed on a specific political agenda and asked to submit names of their parishioners in order to increase a database to 300,000 names. These pastors will be asked to place voter guides in their church pews. Ken Blackwell, Ohio's secretary of state and a governor hopeful, is named throughout the document. Blackwell will be featured on 30-second radio ads promoting this group's agenda and supporting the "Ohio for Jesus" rally set for the spring of 2006. At the end of the document are the words, "America has a mission to share a living savior with a dying world."

Here's the plan itself. It is a blatant effort to politicize Ohio ministries on behalf of conservative causes.

Nothing shocking about it, given recent history. But still disturbing. The link above is from a letter to the editor by Rev. Dr. John Lentz, a Presbyterian pastor. His letter concludes: This is not America's mission. This is frightening, diabolical stuff for non-Christians and Christians alike. It is blasphemous to claim that any earthly kingdom is God's kingdom. The theological foundations of this movement are vacuous. They are set on the sands of opportunism, self-righteousness and greed.

It is time for the citizens of Ohio to wake up. This group and those like it will stop at nothing in making America a theocracy shaped by one very limited interpretation of scripture.
The media must investigate and show this movement for what it is. Courageous preachers must help their congregations understand what is at stake. Silence is not an option.

Reading that first long paragraph you wrote made me think they are trying to find a candidate for an Ohio pope with a religious mentality comparable to the mentality that Hitler had about creating a whole race of nothing but blond hair and blue eyes......

I guess I'm too busy minding my own business and living my own life without having the need to live someone else's life and minding thier business.

What a simple concept.

Pass the cable bill please.

I used to live in Ohio and now live in the bible belt south. There is no comparison between Ohio and South Carolina when it comes to the Christian Movement. I would consider Ohio to be far more liberal than South Carolina. So if that is transpiring in Ohio imagine what is going on elsewhere. The fact Ohio is not in the bible belt is why it probably was reported. Down here that story would be business as ususal and not even reported. This is frightening stuff IMHO.

Blackwells prize for helping rig the 04 presidential election is the Governorship. And most Ohioans are not members of the religious right.

Nobody cares about Ohio!

Who cares about Ohio anyways? What a crap state! Bunch of mid-western
red-necks who think they're educated and think living in Ohio is neat!

prosides:suomi:

I can say that cuz I've been there, it sucks! And I also happen to
live in one of the top best places in the world as far as I'm concerned
and I've been around the world a few times!

You obviously did not spend much time learning grammar while sleepwalking around the world.
