He is probably right as a league/union matter, but he didn't have to answer this now and his interview last night (I did not see it) was an unmitigated disaster

TORONTO – In his first interview since the shocking video surfaced of Ray Rice knocking out his then-fiancee (and now wife), National Football League commissioner Roger Goodell said he wouldn't rule out the possibility of Rice playing again in the NFL.
In an interview with CBS News, Goodell specified that Rice “would have to make sure that we are fully confident that he is addressing this issue clearly, that he has paid a price for the action that he has already taken,” in order to return to the NFL.

[h=1]NOW wants Roger Goodell out[/h]
Terry O'Neill, the president of the National Organization for Women, has called for NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to resign, citing Ray Rice's assault on his now-wife as just one of many examples of the league's failure to act against domestic violence.
"The NFL has lost its way. It doesn't have a Ray Rice problem; it has a violence against women problem," O'Neill said in a statement. "... The only workable solution is for Roger Goodell to resign, and for his successor to appoint an independent investigator with full authority to gather factual data about domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking within the NFL community, and to recommend real and lasting reforms."

He won't be playing next season or probably ever again in the NFL. That has more to do with him being an older running back in decline. If he was in his 2nd year, you bet your ass he would be playing again.

Exactly. If this were Calvin Johnson or someone similar team would "give him another chance."

If Mike Vick and Josh Brent can play in the NFL, no reason for Ray Rice not to again.
