Offshore Line Mistakes

When checking opening lines when they first come out online I have noticed that offshore books make a lot of mistakes. College basketball and baseball run lines seem the most vulnerable. Some times lines are reversed (wrong favorite) etc. If you jump in and bet say Illinois if the money line is wrong and you are getting a big plus by mistake are they obligated to pay or is it no action?

What you are asking is it OK to steal? The answer is no.

Obvious bad lines will always be reversed.

For example if Fresno St/Virginia opened as Fresno St -5 and you hammered Virginia +5 you'd get your money back and no action.

However if they opened Virginia -2.5 then that's not really an obvious mistake...it's just a bad line.

Also, there's nothing wrong really with betting a line mistake. It's the books job to make sure they're putting up the right lines. They reserve the right to do no action...that's fine... but if you see a bad line, bet it, and win...and the book doesn't notice.... Well that's not stealing.

If it ever happened in Vegas I don't think they would reverse it. Would offshore reverse it if you bet a mistake line and still lost? Would they refund your losing bet?

Its not stealing because you still have to win the game......you could still lose regardless of the odds.

The obvious correct thing to do is simply call in and tell them you suspect an incorrect line. Sometimes they will let you bet into the line for a small amount or offer a free small bet or whatever. No matter what, it makes me feel good when I point out a mistake. Hopefully others feel the same way.

Right !!! there's question to ask, it is so simple, call your sportsbook company and let them know, you can actually end up winning more than just some cash, if you know what I mean :hihi :hihi :hihi

They had an off day. I saw 3 line errors on props.

2 resulted from having a MNF prop being revesred for Isac Bruce, they had over/under 74.5 catches and over/under 5 yards. I called it in when it wasnt corrected by the second time I saw it. Book gave me $10, and then had to send out emails cancelling all the wagers. They were NOT happy that their customers had bet into obviously bad lines.

Betting into BAD lines is BAD business. I believe you can bet into SLOW lines, where the line was correct, but has since moved most places but not at the book in question, that I believe is their responsibility.

They gave me another $10 (its the thought that counts) for another similar error on CFB prop.

Years back I was using ESBN and called in a play on Gerald Mccellan at - 350 vs Nigel Benn. I wanted to play Benn at plus but they had the line reversed at Benn - 350 Being in the boxing business at the time I had to point out the line error but basically got a rude reply saying I was crazy Benn was the favorite etc. So I jumped on Mccellan and what happens. Benn recovers from 1st round knockdown to stop Mcclellan.

Vegas goes as written, I believe. If your ticket said Knicks +70 ( instead of +7), I think it would be paid.

Case in point tonight.

The late football game was just going off and I was frantic to get in a first half bet. I jumped on Pinnacle and put the rest of my account (only about $300) on what I thought was OSU ML for the first half.

As soon I had typed my password, I saw that the OSU 1st half was off the board apparently (and not listed), but the Miami/Iowa State game was the one listed there instead. Essentially I bet ISU in the first half on the ML and the game was in the fourth quarter at the time.

I sent them an email immediatley, but they have yet to grade it either way. I'm assuming no bet of course. And to make it all worse, looks like the bet I had originally intended on making will win easily but wasnt available.

It's been a rough night.
