A frenzy, lol. Probably a similar atmosphere in Toronto when the Leafs win an exhibition game.

The Lightning won't be in Tampa in 10 years. I hope your fans enjoy it while it lasts... maybe they'll have figured out what icing is by the time the team pulls a Hartford.

You may not know this either, but the ST. PETE TIMES FORUM is one awesome place to watch hockey.

Many say it is the best venue in the entire NHL to take in a game.

22,000+ and most every seat is a great one!!

The place is the loudest arena I have EVER been in.........with the possibe exception of the old Iowa Fieldhouse.

ok fishhead, lets see what your example of hockey crazed is and lets see if it can compare to montreal..

During the playoffs this season, this is what the fans were doing in this city..

1- honking horns everywhere
2- putting habs flags on their cars
3- talking only hockey everywhere
4- putting habs flags and banners on their porches.
5- kids playing ball hockey on streets with all Habs jerseys in 92 deg weather.
6- blocking off ste Catherine street after a Habs win..
7- rioting and looting stores after win vs Boston.
8- small parade in Ste Catherine street after win vs Boston.

______

these are just some of the things that have occurred here recently. And you have the nerve to mention that TB fans are hockey crazed.

Probably more here, yes.

Tune in to the game early tonight and check the fans out.

There will be thousands and thousands of fans outside watching the game on the MONSTOR screen not being able to get a ticket to what will probably be the largest crowd EVER to watch a hockey playoff game tonight.........a potential standing room only crowd of 23,000 is expected.

The city is buzzing!

fishhead, that makes me feel so good to hear you say that about hockey in TB.. My dream as a Canadian is to see hockey take off in the US and become a very popular sport.. It brings a tear in my eye to see our national sport becoming like this in the US, especially in a hot southern state like Florida..

I would pay any type of money right now to be able to be in TB tonight on the streets and just see the fans reactions.. That would be priceless.. and even better would be to be in TB if they win the cup and see how the fans would be reacting for this sport. That is a site i would love to see.

Its funny Sliko, if I didnt live down here I would be very skeptical of the fan reaction in Tampa, Florida.

But let me tell you, this city is a much better hockey town then a lot of people realize.

Take Atlanta for example, I would venture to say that TAMPA is 10x the hockey city Atlanta is.

Lots of hockey fans down here.......lots of transplanted Northeasterners.

Check the crowd out tonight before and during the game........the people are really behind the Lightning here............THEY ARE A VERY WELL LIKED TEAM in this community.

No thugs on the team like the Bucs have............probably cause 80% of the Bolts are Canadiens.

Please, I have met ONE Canuck since I have lived here in 2 years!!

Some drunk Maple Leafs fan at one of the games.

By the way, this is not a Canadien vs USA thing.

This is TB vs CALGARY............you are living in a fantasy land if you think otherwise.

I know, I know.......if I were in Canada someplace I would realize it is a CANADA VS USA thing...........whatever.

sick G, the attempt to popularize the game in the US the past 15 years has been a MASSIVE failure. Chicago might be losing the most money in the league and if that market can't make a go of it, how the hell can the Sunbelt teams?

sportsavant is right. No wonder there are many fans in TB, they are all canadian. Let me tell you one thing, I was in Florida in Feb and watched 2 straight games there live.. I saw the Habs, then the Pens, and let me tell you, the place was not only half empty, but it consisted of 68% french canadians from Montreal. It made me sick. And the worst part of it was that it was hilarious to see the American fans who were all sitting next to me. I swear to god, no lie, i was laughing how unknowledgeable these fans were. They were booing the ref for calling an obvious offside. They were booing the ref at every obvious penalty against their team, and I swear to god, i saw a bunch of ladies and men literally sleeping. That's right boys, sleeping.. A deep sleep. You will never see any of this happen in a Habs game at the Bell Center. And here, all the fans are 100% knowledgeable and they all know the game very well, and don't boo unless they really have to.. When i was at the Office Depot Center in Florida, the fans just seemed dead. Even when I went for a piss in the can, everybody was quiet and to themselves, whereas in Montreal, people are singing, dancing, they're drunk and all seem so happy to be just at a hockey game.

took Calgary +165 for this one

too much value to pass up

NO WAY i could lay almost $2 with TB in what figures to be another close game.

until TB breaks the "win one/lose one" streak and with calgary going for an NHL tying record 10th road playoff win - i will be on calgary in road games.

Quote from above by Sliko------all know the game very well, and don't boo unless they really have to.

So they REALLY had to boo the Star Spangled Banner?
