Pacino of late - Simone, Gigli, The Recruit, Insomnia, Any Given Sunday (WTF), The Devil's Advocate.

DiNiro - Analyze this and that, 15 Minutes, Meet the Parents, Showtime (Fvck), City by the Sea, The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle, and the coup de gras - The Fan.

Bobby is the man. Meet the Parents was an instant classic.

Pacino, on the other hand, I dunno ... he's the most overrated actor aside from Jack N. IMO

lander, could not agree more. deniro was great 30 years ago and is still great. pacino was great in two or three movies and has been terrible in so many others. he overacts and screams way too much. is that really what the guy is like? if so, he deserved an oscar for his performance in the first two godfather movies.

wil, i agree that analyze this sucked. the fan was a bad movie but, it was worth the $2 rental to see him sing "shattered" by the stones.

Pacino was decent in Heat, Deniro was better.

Pacino was fabulous in Scent of a Woman, but that was 12 years ago now...

Nothing will ever be better than Deniro in Raging Bull, PERIOD.

Blue, I agree w/Analyze Part 2 & The Fan, but thought DeNiro did nice work in Stanley & Iris(comparable to Pacino's work in Frankie & Johnnie), and he is a better actor than Pacino, with much wider range.

Pacino was really good in Godfather 1&2, Dog Day Afternoon, Scarface, Scent Of A Woman, Donnie Brasco, & Carlito's Way..but the rest??

They both seemingly are taking paydays of late, or need to get better advice from agents and casting gurus, as both their recent choices and works smell of contentment?

And Hoffman..he quit mattering ages ago!

What happened to choosing to preserve one's legacy via quality choices or punt, the way Welles, Newman, Redford, Olivier, Finney, Sharif,etc..have?

Today the money is so big for guys like Pacino and DiNiro that they will sacrifice quality for quanity. Look at the two Analyze movies, would DiNiro have done them in the eighties? These days he probably earned 10 million each.

I agree Wil, the paydays are just too high to turn down, they figure the good works will stand apart from the whoring.

BTW I just got done watching Dog Day Afternoon (1975) , I have seen this movie so many times though...I have always hoped somehow the movie changes and Al and Sal somehow get away,lol.. Kinda like watching the Orioles /Pirates 71 series and hoping somehow the Birds pull it out finally!

Deniro easily has had more hit movies.

I'd have to go with Pacino of late.....sort of seems he has lost it in many different ways.

Gigli??? Film by Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez

The Recruit was great, Insomnia was great, Any Given Sunday was good as The Devil's Advocate. What's wrong with you Wilheim?

Al Pacino's worst film is PEOPLE I KNOW.
